Really now.
DS+3DS in same card?
Seems like a Gateway clone just with a DS simulator able to be installed via devmenu.
Still though, it would be nice.

Uh, no. Just no.

More like a physical switch to go between the two.

What would possibly make you think it would be something installed through devmenu? Especially since it's been stated that DS mode and 3DS mode have different version requirements.
A 3DS doesn't have DS hardware soldered on the board.
When you launch a DS game, it runs a Simulator (Have you ever used Virtualbox on PC?) which stores, basically, the DS software.
If we could modify that simulator to run roms not from a cartridge but rather from somewhere on the SD card, and boot it from the 3DS menu, then we could have DS games in essentially one card

I'm sure it's theoretically possible, but if that's what they were doing, anyone with a gateway could install that CIA. They wouldn't be making any money off that.

Plus, a DS flashcart would be required on top of that to install the 3DS exploit.

gateway have had emails replying that they are not interested in the NDS market
plus, a .CIA like that is not as easy as it sounds

This has nothing to do with gateway as a company. If the DSTwo+ were to have something that can be installed using devmenu for their users to play NDS roms from emuNAND, anybody with a gateway could also install that.

Also, in its current state, TWL_FIRM is broken when the exploit is installed. So, good luck with that.

if it were to be like that, i would guess either they put some brick code in the .cia or it's not a .cia but rather like a new mode "ds mode/gateway mode/classic mode"

If that's true, then I think the Gateway will launch their update faster and may even add more features to compete with it!

The benefit is ours! :)

Sounds like a lot of hassle. They'd be better off making a DS and 3DS flashcart built into 1 with a physical switch to switch between DS mode and 3DS mode. Which is what I said in the first place.

It's been said before that 3DS mode would require 4.x, and DS mode works up to 9.4. So, yeah, makes much more sense than your theory.

True
But if it does turn out to be a Gateway clone, why not try to implement support for 9.2 like Gateway is doing right now?

Gateway will definitely try to compete with this bad boy, also, I think they are using the same exploit.
The biggest upside for this is probably the lack of SOON(tm).

Slow and steady wins the race. Same shit happened when GW announced Omega. Everyone bitched constantly about the wait, saying it was fake, then right when it came out everyone was like "Hail Gateway!"

It baffles me how impatient people are.

I quote myself here:
If they said at the start "Summer 2015" or "We can't comment when it will be final" I would be fine.
But this? They're dodging our questions by saying "We want it out as much as you" "It will be soon, please be patient".
I want a company to respect its costumers, I don't want to get treated like shit.
And they shouldn't have released that teaser, since it basically screams "BUY OUR SHIT, WE GOT THIS READY AND WILL RELEASE IT ASAP".
Oh, but they had to. To confirm people's doubts about them running away/trailer being fake and to save their asses from Sky3DS sales (Face it, people wanted a Gateway for Christmas but they resorted to Sky3DS).
Problem isn't patience, problem is communication.

Keep telling yourself that, this year Gateway didn't even bother posting a "Happy New Year" message.
