Hi!

I have been searching the web for quite some time now, trying to find a reason to my troubles. First, I'll give you some specs:

Model: PSP-1000
Firmware: 3.40 OE-A
Memory Stick: Memory Stick PRO Duo Adapter for microSD with a 16 GB microSDHC inside it.

So, I thought that upgrading would be as easy as it was back in the days. Well, I guess I was wrong. So, I've tried a couple of things:

* Follow this guide:

When I tried to run 3.52 M33UPDATE it just throw up the PSP start screen and then went to black screen. It stayed at the black screen for a couple of seconds and then turned off the system. If I start it up fast enough, it's still locked in the black screen, but if I wait or use the "Recovery menu" I can just exit from it.

* Use Hellcat's Recovery Flasher v 1.60 and v 1.65
Tried to run it both from Recovery Menu and from the normal game menu. Both ended up the same way as the 3.52 M33UPDATE. Unfortunatley I don't have any UMD disks that I can try with, but when I tried loading FIFA 10 ISO (thought it would be old enough) with NO-UMD Disk enabled, I got an error, so it didn't went pitch black as the others did.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Seems you really need a Pandora battery to upgrade first to something like 5.00 and after to that 6.60.

Actually I have mine on 5.00 and I am fine with it, still see no point in upgrade :) I am very attached to my beloved IRShell.

I have just replaced my battery (didn't work). The new battery is bought from some china store, so is it modifiable to become a pandora battery through softmodding?
Model:
Model No: PSP-110
Battery Pack: 3.6V, 3600mAh
CN:ZWT-018

Woah. 3.40OE? Time to upgrade. A lot. That's hella old haha

It was the newest one last time I used my PSP ;) (used the first CFW when it was released. Can't remember if it was on 1.5 or 1.0 though xD Just remembered some awesome things happened around the 1.5 CFW) Now when Suikoden will be released on PSN and there were some rumours about PSP-support, I thought it would be nice firing up the old boy :)

EDIT:
Btw, I have no problems accessing the different parts of the PSP. I can go into the browser and such things, so it shouldn't be bricked. But I might be wrong there? Can it brick without actually bricking the "visual" firmware, only bricking the game-loader?

You can revive this bad boy with a Pandora, grab MMS Maker and prepare a Magic stick with 5.00, then update to 6.60 and install Pro CFW.

Well, after trying a couple of times more, setting and unsetting things from the recovery menu, I accidently succeeded ^^

The settings I had to change were:
User kernel 3.40
Don't allow Boot without UMD.

Now, this was exactly how I had it when I tried the first 10-15 times, but for some reason, this worked now! :D Thank you for your help, now I'm going to upgrade to the newest CFW :)

Well, as I said, the error occured when I had that off the first time too, only put it on to try running an ISO (since it felt like everything I ran went to black screen).. After removing the battery a couple of times, and doing some other stuff, I just went back to how I had it when I first fired up the PSP, and, well, it worked ^^ Wont argue to why it worked, but it did :)
