Actually your in the wrong timezone, not a day has passed for me and Im pretty much sure GW is GMT +4. They usually post their stuff around noon or 20:00

I imagine GW are perfecting a new system to stop cloners from copying this new FW (brick code and/or something else). They will not release it before they are completely happy that cloners will not get a free ride from this new firmware.

Might be just me, but it seems like they wouldn't still be actively working on it if the projected release date was two days from now.

It is hard to say "end of weekdays or weekend", it is extremely hard to guess GW's words, the only hope is " not like last year..."

Im pretty sure they say "should be" in case that something bad happens so the blame doesnt go on them for "lying" to us. Pretty much everyone would say such a thing If they were in this position.
But the thing is they promised before that they were gonna release around New Year so Im guessing this is the real deal.

We got a definitely before the 8th January and also one before the 5th.
Also we got a "before the 18th January for sure".
The current one, which is again noth 100% sure is by the end of the week, which we assume means Sunday. That's the current status in a nutshell.

As far as I know the firmware is done. They just have to set up the servers/redesign the page for the new update. You never know when an earthquake could hit, a fire, hardware failure etc. Thats why you dont ever promise something to someone when youre in a business. "Should" is a vague term but it protects your interest as well as the sellers.

Well...

• Someone asked if their kids will play it before 5th of Jan, they said yes.
• Someone else asked for a date I believe (Correct me if I'm wrong), and they replied with a deadline of 18th of Jan
• We just received new emails suggesting at the end of the week.
• 2hack gave us an estimate of 48 hours a day or so ago (Just go back a dozen or so pages)
