It's not a release date, the emailer asked them if it would be done before he goes back to school on jan 18th and they said definitely, because it's due in a few days.

They never gave a Christmas release date, at most they said they were "hoping" for christmas, and it didn't turn out that way for them.

Well.....if they release on the 19th of Jan.....TECHNICALLY they're having a xmas release......

Around the new year can very well mean the 5th of January. It depends on the scale (month or year).They are still using ambiguous terms. If you believe to a release on Wednesday/Thursday and you end disappointed because it didn't come, you'll see posts telling you it's your fault, that Gateway has nothing to do with this because they never gave a release date.

4th January it is. I think that would perfectly fit, because it would be a totally crappy release date, right after New Year, shortly before everyone has to return to school/work. Given that the Gateway team doesn't give a damn about their customers (copy paste answers, constant ambigious terms, horrible website management, do I need to continue?), this would be perfect trolling. True, I guess this would be still nice, because it would be finally out by then, but for me it would be still kinda a letdown...
