I've played this game for a few days now. I have to say I actually like it. (You can hate on me all you want.)

Once you get over the fact it has Sonic in it and think of it as just a platformer, it's pretty good. Very playable despite a few glitches that I've encountered myself. The story is flat and bland, though that can be said for most Sonic games as well. The fighting sections aren't as cool as the platforming sections, but it's much better than the werehog gameplay in Unleashed.

That said, I wouldn't recommend this game. Not at the current price. Bring it down to $29,99 / 24,99€ and it'll be worthy of recommendation. I don't have a score to give, if I had to compare this to other games like Lost World, if you liked that you're probably going to like Boom. I didn't like Lost World that much and that's how I feel about Boom during certain sections of the game. Overall, it's likeable though.

I'll only pay £10 or less for this disgrace of a "game". Hell, I'd rather buy Pacman Ghostly Adventures 2 than Sonic Poo-m.

Revisiting this game after what I said... Yeah, I still stand to my point. Somehow this game is so bad it's actually good in its own way.

But that was so bad it made me want to crawl under my bed sheets and cry.

...And yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

The 360 demo of Sonic 06 is pretty good and that stage isn't even on the retail version, well, technically it is but they made it way bigger with more boring stuff.

So now there's a Sonic Boom demo (8 tries) on Wii U's eShop and oh god, it's just as awful, bland, repetitive and obvious as the gameplay videos show it to be. Stages 1 - Sonic & Amy go on an Adventure while battling enemies and then at the end there's an enemy who looks like Mother Brain of Metroid.

If you wanna try out the glitches but don't have the full game then use the demo for it (I don't think they bothered fixing them anyway).

It does suck that there's only 8 tries but hey, it's a shitty game so who really cares.

I completed Sonic Boom today. Only played a few levels here and there (didn't really put time aside for this game). The story is below mediocre, the combat is average, the platforming is actually good when it works, the glitches are what make this game almost unplayable, the difficulty is laughable, the graphics are crap, and the music is epic.

After enduring the 5-6 hours worth of gameplay here... Hmm... Yeah, I'd recommend this game. Get it when it's on sale, for like 50-70% off list price. If you can get it below that, this is actually a good pick up for your collection! Haters gonna hate, tho. :ohnoes:

The music is epic? Can you link some of those 'awesome' tunes?

I've watched gameplay videos of Sonic Boom and its score is nothing but mediocre and forgettable yet I still remember Sonic 06's E3 theme which is badass and better than all Boom songs I've heard.

Epic as in epical.

The first song is just another variation of Sonic Boom's menu (which is coincidentally the most popular of it) so it's not really anything great either but the second one was all right.

The game does "recycle" music a lot. A lot. Can you spot the difference?

Was playing Sonic Boom's demo one last time before deleting and it has a lot of glitchiness, just like the retail game itself.

This is not what I'd call a video game. Remember all that shit from Steam? This is Nintendo's very own version of it.

Sonic 06 at least had a great soundtrack which is something not even Sonic 14 has.

Sonic 14 doesn't do it justice. It is a "boom" in a way, so we should keep calling it Sonic Boom. Helps overcome the trauma I experienced in the year 2006, as well. :)

Really though, for what it is, it's OK. Not awful. OK. :D
