OK guys, let me get this straight, prior to doing this tutorial, i need to setup emunand first and fully update the firmware to download the cheapest thing i can get on the eShop so it establishes the management data on my big SD card? (I'm starting from scratch on a second SD card)

I've found a steel diver game for $0.00. Will this work?

I started from scratch on a new SD card and my 3DS had nothing on the SD card. After i installed youtube, i have everything in step 6. Can i skip straight to steps 7 and 8?

I'm stuck at step 14. I don't have a router or anything at my house currently (I use Internet tethering on my android device for internet)

I've set-up an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network on my laptop but the 3DS will not connect to it because it apparently needs an internet connection.

I can tether my android device via bluetooth but there doesn't seem to be an option in Win 7 to share bluetooth tether internet connection with with Ad-Hoc wi-fi.

Does anyone have an ideas to help me? I literally spent like 6+ hours yesterday getting up to this stage (don't ask, LOL) and now I'm stuck right at the very end.

If someone reverses the new Gateway method and releases their work, yes, but the amount of effort required and the stigma among devs against releasing anything that could be used for piracy means it isn't likely.

I think this issue is likely already solved, but is there any way to either:

A) Get CFW to not blackscreen with the SD Card Ejected Message
B) Get cia's to run while in Gateway Classic

When running savedatafiler?

I converted savedatafiler.csu to cia using a guide, but I still get the SD card ejected message when running it in CFW. I am installing with BigBlueMenu. What am I doing wrong? I want to transfer a save file to a legit cartridge (Alpha Saphire).

So I have successfully installed everything, and cias work fine. The only problem I have is that games with a download play feature seem to break the functionality of local multiplayer all together. Upon entering local multiplayer, everything will seem fine, but creating a room or exiting local multiplayer will freeze the game. This has happened with mario kart 7, kirby, yoshi's island, and mario open tennis. The cias I used are perfectly working and tested by others too.

I've tried formatting my sd card and starting over again 3 times already, but it has solved nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I am having issues connecting to the pc. I have been able to prep the sd card and im able to launch the exploit. I have my ip and have edited it into the bat file but it never connects. I have tried to launch the 3ds browser after it reboots but it always freezes loading browser......I have never been able to get the wifi to engage with router after executing exploit. I am holding down L and the wifi light is flicking after reboot. I've tried loading eshop, engaging and disengaging the wifi....it constantly freezes. I'm stuck and not sure what to try next?

update #1 I redid the card and started over and now I can see my 3ds on the router after applying the exploit but it still does not connect when running the bat file.

You have to keep trying, after holding left bumper and pressing the profile exploit, your
console should goto back to home screen then should able to install cia.

As happens to you, I never could launch any app while in the install mode.

Are you using a static IP? I get better results with DHCP and monitoring the connection with WinSCP.

Try connecting to the router before launching the exploit and verify you can go on internet (this is a must). If you get the IP, likely the router will mantain it at the next connection. So you can prepare the bat script in advance.

Launch the exploit (with L key pressed) alternatively with wifi on / off and try to figure out which one works better for you.

If you start with the wifi off, you'll be able to turn it on. Turning it off then again on will rarely success, but before restarting the process give it a try.

As soon as you see the 3ds connected, launch the bat file.

And don't forget to setup the dbs folder before all this. It's very frustrating to get a connection and having an error code becose your .db files are not present or repaired by the 3DS (yes, it happened me twice ) .

Keep trying: first time took me a whole day, second time 2 hours, last time it was a matter of 10 minutes.

I wanted to give this a try. I'm at the part where you run the run.bat. It looks like it could connect to my 3DS and install the devmenu, but now whenever I try to launch the exploit I get a greenish top screen. What does this mean?

It means it's buggy as hell and takes 50 tries (maybe a bit exaggerated) to get it to actually boot properly.

When it DOES boot properly you'll see that blueish green screen, that's not what you're looking for though, you're looking at what the bottom screen is doing.

If it flashes white at some point (forget exactly but it flashes black, white and some other colour quickly, don't have it setup to look atm) then it is going to boot.

Otherwise it's a whole lot of hard resetting with the power button and trying again to get it to boot.


TLDR: It's a mega pain in the arse!

Just got it to boot into the CFW and the devmenu is installed. But wow, talk about unstable...
