I kinda agree with your previous lines, but not at all with this.

IMO they should never "give developers what they want". If they simply do so, then we would get a Nintendo PC ....and the gaming hardware world would get completely bland..
When Nintendo do that I'll be sure that it finally gave up completely, threw its principles in the trash and let specs win over experience/gameplay.

I'm not saying Nintendo need to be terrible to work with (and by what I know from real devs that worked with them, and from how its indie program is, they are not that bad to work with at all). I'm saying they should care about what hardware will have new experiences and better gameplay, and keep trying to evolve the media hardware-wise.

No need to let it get stale ...Since when devs know what they need? ..they only know what they "want", or what is more convenient.

Its not about specs winning or not winning. Its about keeping Nintendo on home consoles alive and kicking. The mass market don't want innovation as much as they want their triple A crap games like COD. Priority should be getting developers comfortable enough to develop on the system.

I agree its not about specs on paper... I own a macbook pro and my user experience is 10x better than my windows gaming rig. HOWEVER, Nintendo aren't in the computing and operating system business. They're in a business where they are still dependant on third party developers for success. If third party developers didn't exist, and it was all just on exclusives, Nintendo would DESTROY this generations consoles. But sadly, its not and thats where they've failed. Specs DO matter to devs. Going back to the N64 vs Ps1.. Why work with 70mb worth of data when you can work with 700mb on the PS1 including high quality audio AND video/FMV technology. Its the same idea now with Nintendo just scaling different variables.

Once again, I don't think I'm really biased. I'm being realistic. I love my Wii U. I love my 3DS. Even if they release a super powered wii U, I will still use my gaming PC and its always going to be better than a console and I'll probably always pickup a Sony console 2-3 years into its lifespan because of Naughty Dog... but for other more casual users or financially restrained users.. Nintendo need to help them and themselves next gen.

Nintendo has made a problem in that 3rd party games are more important than 1st party games look at sales the 3rd party games generally sell more units that 1st party sales

Yup. Although to be honest, what first party games are there from the PS4 which warrant getting into a top 10?

If there was a high enough install base on the Nintendo consoles, Super Smash Bros would have been top of the charts. Sadly just not enough people have the console.

You're forgetting that Sony is more known as a publisher than a developer. They own many studios/subsidiaries and have their own first party games, but ultimately you don't buy a Sony console for first party titles, but for the exclusives that Sony help push for their platform. E.g. Square Enix isn't owned by Sony, but it's a name easily attached to the PlayStation brand and gamers who like their games will likely go for PlayStation 4 over Xbox One or Wii U.

True you don't buy a console for 1 game , IMO to make a conole worth it it needs atleast 15 good games plus good upcoming games

That's exactly what Wii U has struggled with thus far.

Sony (as well as Microsoft) has a large user base thanks to strong marketing efforts and platform direction. It doesn't matter if there are few good games available for the PlayStation 4 (or Xbox One), because when the games come they will sell themselves on their own.

Nintendo however has to deal with the fact that they have a very small user base in comparison and so if someone was interested in a Nintendo game like Smash Bros., they'd have to justify the cost of the Wii U on top of the cost of the game because they likely own a different console (or PC).

That's the word: "comfortable enough". But this should never be Nintendo 1st priority or the main focus ....evar

Nintendo is still Nintendo, and critics still like them, cause they didn't became COD hardware makers or dev's buyers. So yeah ...they need to keep trying to get things near the "comfortable enough" (and with the indie program, they are definitely trying and probably achieving it) ...but never go too far about it.
Devs shoud never have the last words on hardware ..that would only make the industry stale in the long run.

But imposing restrictions on devs isn't any better. It's a tough crowd, but one that you can have on your side if you give them sufficient tools. At the end of the day, developers are the ones who make the memorable experiences we know and love. And consoles are the tools developers need to execute that.

Better read my post again since I said nothing about imposing restrictions to be a better way.
This is not that simple of a issue to solve though, but I'm still keeping my points for now

I offered an alternative point of view based on the fact developers (both first party and third party) have stated Nintendo hardware in the past has been too limiting. I agree with your point of view.

Here's something of interest: https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/546017145721999360

What do you think?

They should just re use the GameCube controller

That or this;

It's the GameCube with Wii U GamePad & Pro Controller features so the best of both generations!

What do you think?

Nintendo compiled this list? :-| If their objective was to make the 3DS look better then they did.

Remember Xbox doesn't have a handheld and a few of those Nintendo games are a bit old

My eyes were more drawn to the Wii U games. The only third party game there is Rayman Legends. Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 were co-developed/funded by Nintendo, so it's essentially second party.

They do its called the PDP (tho it looks and works different)
But that's far away from what I believe WiiCube_2013 and a lot others are looking for:

1. Truly wireless operation à la Wii U Pro Controller
2. Analog L/R trigger from the GameCube controller
3. Gyroscope/motion controls of the Wii U GamePad

That would be great if that could happen
