Okay. I'm thinking about buying a Gateway, and my firmware is 9.2 (obviously) but I remember hearing something about Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire needing an update? So if I bought a legitimate copy of one of the new Pokemon games I'd need to update to 9.3? Is this true?

You will not be able to download the ORAS patch if you stay on 9.2 though, since you need to update to access the eShop. Will get the copy in some days and I regret not downloading the patch for XY (to transfer to ORAS) and for ORAS before Nintendo pushed the update :( no online for me

I honestly don't care if I miss out on online. I had WPA net back in the DS days, so i couldn't use it back then either.

Before I learned about tethering, Nintendo already did shut down WFC. My net was and still is WPA2.

I wanted to play so much Pokemon Diamond online :( miss playing Brawl...

er, I guess it's best to leave this topic. I guess I'm saying some offtopic junk lol

I actually found playing Pokemon online to be less fun than without it.

Like, with Y, I found it was a lot easier to fill the Dex simply by trading pokemon (got every starter in the series (all evolutions) by trading) and the battles were occasionally lagging and when they weren't, ass whippings were a given.

Well, I don't care for online either (my first Pokemon game was FireRed and that was when I didn't have any 3DS/DS), so I guess it's fine with me. Guess I will disable the EXP Share in ORAS so the game is longer.

My problem is Smash though :/

Has nobody here mentioned EmuNAND already? As long as Gateway supports the latest FW in EmuNAND, you don't have to bother if any game needs an update from the e-Shop (and yeah, there are also .cia files.. )

You said it yourself as to why nobody mentioned it. There's been known segments where Gateway takes a while to do just that.

Somebody mentioned CIA dumps of updates, which can be done on any FW version and isn't dependent of any future Gateway updates.
