How to make video games? Particularly RPG?

Any of you knows how to make video games? I've got this idea stuck in my head but I can't put it into... something. So can you give me some tips, tutorials, or maybe some links? Thanks

Ugh. My laptop's resolution isn't enough for the program to run. Can you guys help me on how to change the resolution?

Mine's on 1024 x 576 but 1024 x 720 is needed

That's the max resolution? Try lowering the resolution in the settings of the program or switch it to window mode.

Welp, as you can see, this is the the limit and it won't 'adjust'.

Did you try changing the resolution on RPG maker? Or did it not just run? You can try navigating the folder of where you installed RPG maker and there must be a text file where you can change the settings.

Nah, it's not two monitors. I'll try that though, thanks. And yeah, my other one with 7 has over heating problems so I'm stuck with this one

yeah I had a similar problem on my tablet pc, it cuts parts of the big windows out of rpgmaker (I have no clue why it doesnt use scrolling windows). Maybe rpgmaker xp will work better for you. You could also try game maker, but game maker isnt specifically for RPGs, but it can make 2d game quite easily. There is a free version of game maker as well

If you want a free solution, the Official Hamster Republic Role Playing Game Construction Engine is good because it is easy to use and has an awesome name.
