Lol not only did I buy a gateway again after selling my first one a few months ago. For the first time ever I bought a foreign game console lmao.( and lucked out n had it arrive on 9.1 yay!!) this hype train is a force to be reckoned with.

You could buy a Japanese New 3DS now and stay on 8.1 until Gateway releases support for that firmware. The Japanese New 3DS's come with 8.1 now but in the future they might come with 9.3 or above.

Rumor has it AUS N3DS systems have 9.0.. At least thats what I've heard. Not sure if its still safe to get them now though. I would wait for others to confirm that.

Rumour has it that the Strayan 3DSs aren't really flying off the shelves. I can't confirm that they're still 9.0, but there's a pretty bloody good chance that they are.

Aus n3ds should easily be safe. If play-asia has a stock time of 48h or less then that means it's their original stock. If it's 1-2 week I can't confirm. Mine's coming in tommorrow and I ordered on friday, I'll confirm tommorrow what firmware it arrived with.
