yeah just bear in mind the 3ds will auto download updates on any open wifi's it finds.....happened to me today forgot to turn off the wifi, no internet connections set up but now im being nagged on my n3DS....wish i would of just turned it off....oh well ill just have to pick no from now until the end of time

at least on 4.x you can format to remove the downloaded update....not a option on 9.x, once its there you either update or click no all the time (unless we get some homebrewey thing that can remove it)

99.894% sure the download is stored on the nand.....so formatting/removing the SD etc wont help

He is wrong. The update is on the NAND and can only be deleted by doing a system format. But the annoying Nintendo implemented a new feature that rejects system formats if you don't update first so this method is unusable in firmwares at least above 7.X (not sure which one exactly).

Gateway had a fully functioning n3DS with their new kernel exploit, and yet it's been two weeks and still haven't released any other tangible evidence. Does bug squashing take this long?

We actually don't know how completed the 9.0-9.2 update was at the time of the video. It could have been a very rough prototype or a near-release build.
