Well this thread helped me ease my soul a little bit.
I bought a Gateway 2 weeks ago and received it until this Tuesday... Which by then the 9.3 update was up.
Even worse, I ordered a 3DS (repaired one for a cheap price) and I still don't know what sysnand does it have installed.
With this email from GW, I am pleased to know that they are working on a way to make the card work on the latest Firmware and also the option to add emunand for 9.3 too.
I might have to wait quite some time... But I know the wait will be very well worth it.
For now, my Gateway cards will remain sealed in their package until further notice.
Also, I am seeing that some people are making conclusions on their own about that email.
To get things straight:
- The email states very clearly that they are making test in 9.3 to see if they can make the exploit from 9.0-9.2 work on 9.3 too. This is what they refer to with tests on 9.3 SYSNAND.
- They also say that they are working on 9.3 EMUNAND. This is the emulated system firmware that Gateway uses to make the console think that it is running the latest firmware, while in reality, the system still has an older firmware (4.5 for example) and the emulated firmware is 9.2.
- The "DO NOT UPDATE message in their website is just a safety measure for their customers.
In case they are not able to make the exploit work on 9.3, then they can't be to blame since they did warn their users about the update. Is just so they are in the safe side of things. Nothing more.
It's not like they said explicitly that the exploit didn't work on 9.3, it was just a quick look at the update and that was it.
Nevertheless, I am still looking forward for their updates. I know they never let their clients down.
