Hopefully they'll have 9.3 emunand support soon. I accidentally left it in sleep mode just a few hours ago while I was cleaning and now have the update ready to be installed. Guess I gotta be careful from here on out right? Just a quick Q, if I press A on accident and just shut off my console, will that cause it's own set of problems?

I was wondering why there was no black Australian version. Perhaps only way to get one is to import from Japan.

i actually prefer white hand held devices,i have white phone, white psp go & i wish my ps vita was white.. white doesn't show the finger prints/ smudges like black does.

Doesn't the New 3DS have a non-glossy finish? I don't think it would pick up fingerprints

you are right but i still prefer white,i have always owned black everything nice to have a different colour for a change.

also if you look on ebay & this is true that white consoles & phones fetch more dollars than the black ones, guess i'm not the only one. :P

Guys I have a question. I have noticed that some of you disable wifi on 3ds and some others block nintendo updates from the router. If you just disable the spotpass feaure from the internet settings on the 3ds won't that stop your device from automatically downloading a new update? I have it like this since 2012 and it never downloaded an update automatically....

super beautiful :)
To be honest, I really loved the finish on the DSi. It's just that I haven't come across anything that really feels as nice as the white DSi finish.

If you want guaranteed no updates, remove the connection settings. Therefore it will be unable to download anything unless you come across a Nintendo zone.

What's confusing is the "Gamecard update" that they mention. First thought that crosses my mind when reading that is a retail game with 9.0.0~9.2.0-20 pre-installed on the card itself.

I read it as this:

They will make the gateway compatible with a lower firmware version. The firmware version that they make it compatible with will be a firmware that is currently bundled as an update with a game. To use the gateway with the prior firmware version, you will need to buy said game to update to the appropriate firmware version.

Example: your 3DS is currently on firmware 6.x, and it's now too late to update to 9.0/9.2. Gateway will make a version compatible with firmware 7.3(example only!!! - don't even know if there is such a firmware), which is bundled with the games "Pleng's Adventure" and "Mario vs MrJason". You will then need to purchase/borrow/steal one of those games and use it to update to firmware 7.3 before you can use the Gateway.

May well be the case. So, even if someone buys a New Nintendo 3DS right now, and it ships with 8.1, they should have no worries.
Also:
"Mario vs MrJason"
Haha, you made my day...

You are ignoring the possibility that it's something lower than 8.1, they only specified, somewhat sloppily, "a firmware range lower than 9.0 that can be found boundled on a gamecard" and we can implicitly assume "higher than 4.5" which gives us a range of possible firmwares 4.5 to 9.0 non-inclusive with the further restriction that it has to be a firmware that can be found bundled with games (on a card) for offline updating. This means we could still find 8.1 N3DS's being left out, strictly speaking.

We could cross-check this with firmwares in this range that are available bundled to get a better perception of possible firmware candidates.

would stand to reason they would just go for the highest available update that is obtainable via a retail card....i.e 8.1, this would also mean N3ds owners are good to go out the box....would be silly for them to go with anything but 8.1

inb4 "but not impossible".....yeah not impossible but it would be a pointless and counter productive approach

It's just a programmers habit to interpret everything in the most literal sense possible. I make no statement on what is probable, only what are the possible outcomes generated from such a (broad) specification, which in this case is any possible firmware range contained in the range (4.5, 9.0)...

I'm also hoping it's 8.1 because I want to go out and buy me a JP N3DS to use with gateway (and getting a defective unit just before the 9.3 update came pwned me pretty hard there)

well technically you could go from 1.0-9.2....they just said lower than 9.0-9.2 :P

Yeah technically, but larger than 4.5 is a rather safe and not very speculative assumption in this case.
yeah but you should either choose to assume or go exactly to their word....a obvious and most logical assumption would be 8.1.....i mean anything else is going to create a pointless gap of incompatibility....and going exactly to their word without assumptions is anything from 1.0-8.1

Well the question is can 3ds download an update even if you have set the spotpass off? Which says in description that if enabled automatically downloads software and if disabled it doesn't automatically download software.
Has actually anyone had his 3ds automatically download an update while he had spotpass setting disabled?
