See, Nintendo cares more about blocking access to unlicensed software than piracy of licensed software (as Sky3DS can't support homebrew).

The statement that Sky3DS "can't be blocked because it perfectly emulates a card" is a giant bullshit.

Facts to support this claim?

They didn't patch Sky, because they haven't figured how to yet. simple as that.

Nintendo seemed a lot more hasty when dealing with the Ninjahax exploit than Sky3DS, they went through the trouble of taking down Cubic Ninja on the Japanese eshop in a day and now the exploit no longer works on 9.3. But with the Sky3DS, we haven't seen any signs of Nintendo banning consoles of Sky3DS users or blocking it with the 9.3 update.

You know even if I got trolled, I bought a nn3ds with 8.1 and if gateway doesn't support 9.3 we will need possibly a game with 9.0-9.2 and when you see the charges to import a new jap game would be "better" to buy a sky3ds?

They obviously had their priority over Ninjahack, as Cubic Ninja was removed from the Jap eShop as soon as they had the chance to do so. They may block Sky3DS later, but their priorities are obviously messed up.

I'm not saying it is unblockable, but I think it is too early to say for sure. It may not have been priorities. Sky3ds may have been out for a bit longer, but ninjhax has been released for 2 weeks or so before this update blocked it. I'm sure Nintendo has a handful of sky cards trying to figure out what tells they have, but still could be a tedious task.

The fact that it supports MultiROM is enough to have something easy to patch.

Do really some people here think that Nintendo does not know how the Sky3DS works ?
They have access to internal signal exchange, internal memory and so on their own 3DS from dev model unit or so...

Maybe blocking the Sky3DS is not easy or possible on 3/2DS but we might see soon N3DS with different motherboard like PSP were made : same console, different components...

Let's not think that Nintendo is stupid.
The only "hack access" never corrected is the Wii/vWii and a lot of people don't use it to play.

not necessarily, depending on how accurate their cart emulation is it could be very hard or very simple to block.....it may come down to just blacklisting unique cartID's used in the template file.......or possibly just timing related blocks.....but before they try anything like that they would need to get timing down to a tee so no legit cards are throwing up errors

Don't take my word for it, but considering Sky3DS is working on 9.3, 90-95% chance Gateway 3DS will work on it as well especially considering that the exploit is not yet out in the open.

Dude I meant for updating, I have a USA console so it would serve as an update and then 9 other games
But wouldn't a Japanese Rom have the Japan region update? Even if you made it that far I don't think an out of region game would do much more than throw some kinda "this game card is not compatible with this system" message when you try to launch it. Never tried to run an out of region game before though

not sure if I agree with that. They have a hardware button on the card for switching roms, which I imagine sends a signal to the ASIC telling it to mount the next file, I don't think they would let signals like that anywhere the 3ds would notice them. Maybe some sort of check to see if the game card is actually removed and reinserted when a Rom is changed could be really annoying for the end user. When Nintendo does block it I'm very curious about what they'll have done.

You can run out of region roms on 4.5 GW (region free)

Could you elaborate further? I understand all of these words; but your arrangement of them leaves me confused.

The update broke streetpass functionality?

This confused me as well as his response about Spain and a SpotPass4 SSID for wireless. Will StreetPass/HomePass still work on older firmware?
