No, they're two completely different flashcards using two completely different methods to play ROMs.

Gateway may very well still work on 9.3; but it won't be *because* "Sky3ds still works". There's absolutely no correlation between the two devices when it comes to system version compatibility.

It's confirmed that on it's current firmware it's blocked except for the clone cards "Sky3DS, R43DS"

I don't think the unreleased Gateway update will be blocked yet. Since I doubt Nintendo can block it until after it is released and they can examine how it works. Just like how smealum had a exploit that was never patched until now, after it was released. Just knowing a exploit exists doesn't mean they found it and patched it.

Once gateway makes an announcement about they supporting 9.3 i will update, it doesnt matters if i loose ninjhax i prefer 1000 times a kernel exploit than it, although ssspwn is awesome

Pretty sure the firmware made for the intention of blocking flash cards and the same reason why the pushed back the release of the New 3DS in NA and EU aside from the fact Nintendo wanted to get the old 3DS's off store shelves.

But from what I can tell (I'm no psychic), Gateway will find a way around this firmware update too seeing the Gateway on the firmware 9.0 and beyond does not require the blue card anymore, it's future firmwares 10.x and beyond I'm a little worried about because a whole number firmware jump usually means there's significant structural changes in the firmware to block out flash cards for a much longer periods until flash card makers find away around it and get back up to speed again.

I'm guessing the first New 3DS exclusive Xenoblade will introduce and require firmware 10.x and beyond.

All we can do is wait and see. banner bomb was released on version 4.0 for the wii, then only patched at 4.3. By then people had figured out other exploits, so just sit back and watch.

Cubic Ninja was a Japanese eShop-only game. Only physically available in the US and Europe. It was nuked from the eShop hours after smea's release (on Nov. 19).

yeah i know, just wondering if they would of put it back now its patched........i doubt it, but maybe at some point cubic ninja shall return.....and not sell

There will still be many 3DS (from Australia) with 9.0 on there anyway. Systems with new firmware take a while to roll out.

Well, there is me fucked, if 9.3 blocks GW. Ordered a JP console on the 1st Dec with Express 4 Day shipping, they didn't ship till Friday gone. Just have see how it pans out

Don't worry we should start to see games with a 9.x update over the next couple of months. Hopefully with 9.0-9.2, but it's also very possible they'll skip them and go straight to including 9.3 instead.

Just for your information: I ordered a JP N3DSLL and it arrived in time for the 9.2 update.

We already know that the latest shipments come with 9.2. Most people are choosing a Japanese model because they want either the SSB or Monster Hunter special editions. Both of which are on 8.x I believe. Not sure why anyone would pick a Japanese model otherwise.

Because it is cheaper? With gateway the only downside will be Japanese language when browsing 3ds menu, and the price different is around 70-90 USD. I also managed to update it to 9.2 so I can say it is a nice bargain.

The Japanese ver is way cheaper also they have lot of exclusive eshop/VC content that will never appear outside Japan
plus updates .
