not worth the hassle & no savings to be made if i also need to import a jap game. best thing to do would be to sell it & buy aus n3ds from 365games which i have already done,it's like buying a uk console & the warranty is local if buying from 365games.

& outside of Gateway's capabilities region lock is the BIGGEST downside.personally i don't mind if Gateway won't work on 9.3 as long as my retail games work on jap console.

The 9.3 update will probably make the GW team work on updating the emuNAND support for current flashcarts. This will ultimately push back the production from the 9.0-9.2 Update. They'll also probably start testing compatibility with 9.3, which again, may slow down the release of the 9.0-9.2 update.

That's doubtful. They've done this before, where they stop working on experimental features to update current carts. The only way I see this happening is if they have already completely finished everything for the 9.0-9.2 update, which is unlikely.

Compatibility for 9.0-9.2 isn't "experimental features". This is a major accomplishment considering they haven't have a firmware exploit in 2 years.
They warned people to STAY on 9.0-9.2. If they were going to just keep struggling to catch up to Nintendo, they wouldn't have explicitly warned people to not update.

The new support for 9.0-9.2 is a very significant feature. I don't think that it can be equated to features such as updating the 'savegames subsystem', so there is a chance.
