nice review thanks

did you end up paying tax on it ? what about those who imported one from asia did you pay tax ?

Well I've never really imported much. It came in through FedEx I signed for it. I mean I asked around, I was told that meant no tax. So really if you think about it, the new DS in the states would be at least $220 +tax. Its really not all that bad. Hell it came here faster then most stuff from amazon. Play-asia doesn't even cost more than ebay.

Ok Update. You can actually figure out how much you owe in dutys and tax using fedexs website. Go to their global trade manager. There will be an option to check the duty and customs. Now the tricky part is you actually have to have a harmonized code (and this is good research/learning opportunity for those out there) to assess how much you owe. Whenever you import, you should check these harmonized codes. For instance watches can be expensive, but then video game consoles? Well if I'm correct, because I had to go through google census harmonized codes and found video game consoles not listed under subtext something so I believe it applies. Heres what my estimate came out to.
Also it seems that they are allowed shipped in in multiples, unlike some items which must come alone. In essence the 3DS comes out like a PS4 would, customs doesn't want to rack up the price on an import category that the US doesn't have a monopoly in.

All in all, I hope GW releases their patch soon.

Kind of tired reading through people that think GW will wait 4/5 months until the New 3DS hits USA/EUR.

Not to mention this absurd idea that nearly everyone preaches that Nintendo's a bunch incompetent fools who don't know how to move or act.

*sigh* Once it comes out, I'll retreat to my lil' corner and watch sooo many be pissed off that "GW didn't wait for them" that "they wasted tons of potential sales".

Please.

i want ma n3ds t_t

there is no way to dump 9.2 update to pc and then set up a spoofed update server?

Sure looks like they'll wait a couple'a months uh? Honestly .
/sarcasm
I don't understand this logic either. The N3DS is clearly available for export on a bunch of websites, but nope, that's not good enough. People want to hold up the update until the US release of the N3DS (which doesn't even have a release date yet). How about no?

Either import the N3DS or sit there and use your current 3DS.

I want my update.:hateit:

That isn't even the worst of it. People must think the N3DS will launch in January or something.

IT WON'T. And it'll be patched long before then. So honestly, whats the point? Sales? What sales? You've already got a sh*t ton of people importing N3DS's and buying Gateways for that special Christmas.

So, why do we, 9.2 users, have to wait for something almost complete because of the EUR/USA launch? (which, again, will take months). Zero.Sense.

Gateway announces support - 2 weeks later they launch a video. YOU HONESTLY THINK that after all this, they'll just cross arms, yawn and do nothing but wait?

Wait? WAIT!? - You don't WAIT in business and especially NOT in a market like this.

WAITING makes sh*t like Sky3DS show up. And you all saw what happened. So many people said in the other thread: " If it wasn't for the GW announcement I'd have bought a Sky3DS. "

GW LIVES on costumer expectation. Costumers that most likely want a patch in their socks later this month.

So, seriously, the longer GW waits, the longer they lose to crap like Sky3DS and other carts like that.

Like some user "here" said: " Their target are kids that dont know any better. "

And those kids can at least know which card, despite EVERYTHING ELSE, works in their 3DS.

Can't get any more obvious than that.

Huge post above me
Yeah, it seems clear that if the N3DS was to launch in January Nintendo would have already set a date. March and onwards is most likely.

And I agree, of course it'll be patched before then. Gateway are in an interesting position with two options:
1) Release ASAP and allow people a brief window to buy a 3DS/N3DS, quickly update to 9.2 (or buy an AU N3DS and already have 9.0), and have a working flashcard.
2) Release later, and risk the exploit being plugged, restricting Gateway functionality to those that already had a 3DS (and likely already had a Gateway) and the remaining Australian N3DS stock that has 9.0. If the exploit isn't plugged, then hooray. If it is, oh no.

Option 2 is just unnecessary risk. Not to mention they've already built hype for the update (and therefore, interest in flashcards). If they let that fizzle, people are likely to scratch their flashcard itch with, as you said, Sky3DS or whatnot.

Anybody from the US that wants in on the New 3DS Gateway action should seriously just import already.

Oh yeah, Dat Mario doe.
You love it.

Got my JP super smash bro N3DSLL, updated to 9.2 and now I wait...

Btw, new 3DSXL on 9.2 for sale, NES edition, PM if interested

Mine isn't even shipped yet, but at least it's an Australian one so I can be sure it comes with the right FW and I don't have to worry that it won't come in time before the new update hits. I am glad that I own a normal 3ds XL 4.5 that I can sell once the new update arrives. Otherwise the waiting would be killing me :P
