Did anyone ask them if they have anything in store for when n3ds comes out in the west? I went ahead and emailed them:
Hello, I'm a Gateway European customer currently with a 4.5 3ds. I wanted to update to New 3DS when it would come out, but I'm unsure if now I should just pay extra to import the Australian one, or you have some other exploit ready that you will use when the consoles launch here. Thanks

They probably won't be able to answer because 1: we don't know what firmware it will come with yet (altough it probably will be the same as australian n3ds) 2: if it has new firmware there is no way to know if the exploit still works or if there is another one present, since it doesn't exist yet.

EU n3ds will come out in spring, so in March at the earliest. So, unless they already started manufacturing them, they'll probably have the next (patched) firmware.

i guess, but what you learnt is yours, i see a big benefit in learning it. especially basic stuff in Japanese games, where you can at least understand some of the menus or what not. lazy people are lazy =P id rather save an extra 40-60 dollars CAD and obtain a skill ;)
It's not just "some of the menus". All of the messages, instructions screens and built in apps will be in Japanese. And correct me if I'm wrong, but won't accessing Miiverse take you to the Japanese version, meaning that you won't be able to understand crap in it? And what about the incompatibility problems when doing local multiplayer by connecting with non-Japanese systems?

Exactly! If you really think they are produced already and BigN won't patch that until March, you have lost your mind. BigN has learned a lot out of their NDS and wii security negligence. Look at the wii u. Not publicly cracked until now.

i think thats the trade off, i havent tested it out myself, but in terms of local multiplayer, i would assume given that they are both the same region game, it would connect no problem. but i havent gotten my jap 3ds yet to test it out, but when I do ill put up a thread on what you CAN and CANNOT do.

Haha maybe they did this little release with AUS to get the exploits out in the open before the big EU and US release lol.

BigN won't know what to patch unless Gateway shows their hand.

come from germany and i want to get my gateway from europe.
i found this, is this ok? http://www.playmods.co.uk/ the shop ships from cypern
Try eBay Kleinanzeigen. Got my card from a seller in Elmshorn, arrived after just two days. Probably not the cheapest way but no customs trouble, long waiting times etc. involved and the guy even provided a neat self-written instruction on how to do the first-time setup and other important aspects of the card. So yeah, can only recommend.

Do you need a 4.5 console to update to the new GW firmware when it releases?
No.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
