I would like to replace the regular memory cards with something a little more permanent. Like maybe soldering a chip inside the gamecube for exampl;e. I could use a little advice. Thanks.

Permanent storage doesn't seem like a good idea, but hey, it's your call. You could just solder the memory card to the slot pins from the inside of the system and close the slot shut. Better yet, you could hack-and-slash an SD card in there for increased storage capacity.

I like your sd card suggestion, any idea where I would go to get instruction on the proper way to hack and slash.

If you have a wii/wiiu you could play games via devolution or nintendont and use emulated memory cards. I don't know if that gets you where you want to be or not, since your reason for wanting to ditch the memory cards isn't clear.

thanks, I'll check it out
Alternatively, you can completely forget about the adapter and just solder the SD card directly to the pins with some wires - the adapter is only needed if you want the storage removable and you clearly don't. :P Match the pinout and it'll work just fine. ;)

Commercial Gamecube games aren't programmed to read or write SD cards, unlike homebrew. They'll have no idea what to do with it.

Besides the memory card slots have other uses. Such as the microphone, or an IDE-EXI adapter.

Thanks for the heads-up on that one.I would have wasted my time and ruined an sd card plus whatever else. I personally have never owned one of these gamecubes. Sony came out with the ps and I never looked back. I have a friend who is going to jail for awhile and you are allowed these old machines in thereBUT.... no memory cards. So if they are playing a game, they have to leave machine on for the entire game, or........... You get the picture. and any alteration I do to machine has to be hidden or it won't be allowed inside. It sounds like you know your shit. I have never seen or done any mods to these machines but I am thinking of modding an xbox 360 I have. Would you have any advice or tips for me? Thanks again for your earlier advice.
