Defraggler is FRAGGLING!

I've been defraggling for days on end trying to get my 2TB Seagate in tip top shape. So after the first run, there were still some red blocks, so I did those manually. When I was done, everything was blue, albeit broken up by some empty blocks here and there.

So finally, I decided to check my disk for errors, just to be safe. After that was done, I checked it again with defraggler and there were six red blocks. I set one to defrag over night and now I wake up to find red blocks EVERYWHERE. Am I doing something wrong? I just want this to be over with.

Defragging *does* improve HDD shape, thing is, every defragging program has its own scripts to do it with varied priorities. If Defraggler only ensures file continuity and does not nullify gaps between files, the drive will become fragmented almost immediately. I suggest trying out myDefrag which tries to close gaps between files in addition to defragmenting them - give the drive a go using the full script.

Because everyone can afford SSDs with 256-512 GB, right? SSDs are not perfect and have their own set of flaws, no drive technology is perfect. Defragging is vital to do every now and then, any computer/IT expert would know this. There's no reason not to do it.

A 256gb SSD is $150 and a 512gb SSD is $250. If you're too poor to afford something like that, perhaps consider a hobby that costs less.

What flaws do SSDs have, other than cost? Don't bring up write cycles, as it's been tested to only become an issue after years of abnormally heavy use.

The cost per GB still presents an issue, and please, do me a favor and don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do with my hobbies, interests, etc. That's NOYB. I'll stick to HDDs until SSDs go down in price. Deal with it. Good day. If someone is too poor to X is none of your concern.

Cost is not a "flaw". A high-end luxury car isn't "flawed" because it costs more than a cheap compact sedan.

Fragmentation of files causes a massive decrease in read speed - every time one fragment ends, the drive has to skip to the next fragment elsewhere on the platter, increasing access time as a result. If you don't know what you're talking about and have no valuable response, why are you posting?

An increase from 31 MB/s to 68 MB/s is not "negligable", it's over 100% faster, stop spreading misinformation.

I don't understand how you can state that cost isn't a flaw to anything. Of course it is. For one, indirectly, it's preventing access to a larger audience, so that in itself is a flaw.

SSD 250gb+ Is expensive

Get a low size SSD [120gb or 150gb] then use your current HDD as the storage hard drive.
That is how I am setup.
As long as important programs [av, rendering programs, sv, aae, etc] and your OS is installed on the SSD, life is grand.
Games etc can be on your storage drive.

Also manually Defragging is not modern anymore.
Only insane sticklers who repetitively do it have issues
Just run on a schedule if you are paranoid.

I do defrag occasionally, but I think it's on a schedule, not too worried, just don't have money to get an SDD right now, heh.
