If you've ever heard of the Postal series and enjoy completely senseless violence, Hatred, an upcoming game by Destructive Creations, should be on your radar. The developers have just released a trailer for the game and its contents resulted quite a negative stir, so much so that Epic Games wants their Unreal Engine logo removed from it - somewhat understandable considering the fact that it's practically a minute and a half of mindeless carnage. If you're underage, easily offended or squeamish, you probably shouldn't watch the video above.
What's your take on the game and its premise? Do you think Destructive Creations are crossing the line with this one? The game is certainly in bad taste, but at the end of the day, it's just a game, isn't it? Post your thoughts!
Hatred is to be released on PC in Q2 of 2015.

Shameless clickbait game. I'm sure it will be famous because OH NO VIOLENCE FOR NO REASON and the hipster teenagers will want to get it. Or maybe just talk about it. Mommy decides for them after all.
Postal 2 was boring until half the game. I hope this has nothing to do with it. All of the most violent games that got successful had some kind of purpose (Madworld being an undercover cop, for example).

Ahhhh, now this is news! (Sorry Foxi! Was nitpicking on your update news)
Quite the subject this one..... personally I agree with your opinion, plus let's be honest we've been doing pretty much the exact same thing for only the slightest reasons on GTA for years (and Postal anyone?), but the worlds media is gonna have a whale of a time with this, and especially since many are still reeling from recent school massacres in the US and so on, not mentioning the current 'women in the gaming industry' debacle that's going on, this isn't gonna do any good whatsoever. ...I can already see the kind of headlines we're gonna get from The Daily Mail about this...
They'll sell a bazillion copies!

I think the game is very explicit, but that's not a reason to get upset. Video games see the most scrutiny out of all multimedia and in my opinion undeservedly so - stuff like this is perfectly fine to show in a movie with an appropriate mature rating, it's even easier to get it through in books since they're not visual. We have violent literature, violent films and violent music, but games get the red card because they're interactive and believed to be played "by children", which we know is not the case. If the developer wants to go nuts with violence, go nuts. Ultimately it's up to the customer what he/she wants to play - if you don't like the concept, don't buy the game.

These are the kinds of games that fuel that argument about violence being caused by video games.
It's a controversial concept for a game, yes, but perhaps it's also a good thing for at least one developer to "not care". Take a look at some of the popular TV series out there - Game of Thrones revolves around murder and incest and yet it's causing less of a stir than your usual Call of Duty. With something like this released, everything else just might seem milder in comparison.

I think everyone on here will agree 100% with you on this, but The Daily Mail won't! Neither will pretty much any newspaper, site, etc.... If someone wants to make a videogame about controlling a horse and tearing some fit woman a new arsehole, that's also fine by me, but nevertheless the game isn't gonna increase the profile of the industry - they'll always blame the next school mass murdering on games when stuff like this gets made!
....But then there's the flipside: personally if every single videogame ever made from this moment on suddenly started starring, I dunno, unicorns that only shit out pretty rainbows, I reckon games would STILL get the blame!

If you're bored sometime though, visit amazon, search either 'PS4 games' or 'Xbox One games', then see how many games on the first page that don't carry a pegi 18 or 16 there are...... it's really no wonder the games get the blame to be honest...

Also the idea of Postal was fantastic, so im sure i'd like this nonetheless, lol
I'm not entirely sure if it's for all Postal fans, rather for those that enjoyed the mindless violence and little else. Postal and Postal 2 were insanely violent, but they were humorous about it - they were over the top by design and very self-aware, Hatred on the other hand is essentially a psycho simulator. Each to their own though - a game like this could be amazing stress relief for all those days when you just want to see the world burn.

Can't wait to see people that went "hurr durr, y no woman in AC: Unity co-op" defending Hatred's violence with the "c'mon, it's just a game" argument..

In my opinion, the game will suck. Postal had tons of mindless violence, but also a big dosage of black humor, I loved that. In Hatered, the (anti-?)hero states "let's fuck shit up" and goes out to shoot some brains out. Some could say this means nothing if the game is really playable, but from what was shown on the Trailer, where's the challenge? In chaining kills, or catching up to runaway citizens? No, thanks. I'd rather go and piss on some graves.

I don't see the purpose of the game.
Is it supposed to be.... entertaining? Its looking really stupid and pointless.

Agreed.
And i don't see that big problem with the violence, it's a game, people should understand that they are different things.
I remember worst things in Bloodrayne, for example.

To be perfectly honest, most games have "worse" things going on. People's inhibitions are probably the reason why zombie games are so popular - you get to do whatever you want and you always have the excuse of "ah, y'see, they're not people - they're actually zombies!". 10 points for hypocrisy and whatnot. :P

Haha, yea.. and I cant wait to see Faux News eat this stuff up.

You still watch television news? All that shit's terrible. "Faux" with hating everything, CNN with claiming the world is ending, everything else kinda follows this same agenda. Claiming sides with the media is just like a group of circle-jerkers, you're only listening to what you want to hear.

If it actually matters, you'll see about it elsewhere.

Nah, lol.. I actually don't watch TV period.. My lifestyle has gotten to the point where I practically get culture shock seeing the new shows and movies that are out.. But we have a TV at work in the break room, and when its not playing soap opras, its usually on the news channel. So it can't be helped

Had you not told me of a controversy I would probably not have even considered there would be one beyond the usual token fluster.

Wonder if the devs will do something cute like making a negative score, mainly so as to say "look, it was all for naught".

If the mechanics are tight I can see myself playing this, even more so if they crowbar some kind of multiplayer into it.
