I forgot who said it but when 8.x came out with the 7.x encryption, All the groundwork for the features released today was all ready there, hence why Smea/yellows8/plutto knew a new 3DS was coming and other shit. As for the patches being ported part, remember back in november/december when GW 2.ob2 came out after the update that released sDK 5+ encryption, it took so short a time cuz all they had to do was port the patches from 2.0b1 [Don't quote me on this, Imma search through old threads now for more specific proof]. Everytime theres an update that isnt only about the eshop, the patches have to be ported.
