yeah, make them about EZ IV, and ask them to make a last ultimate version of a gba card
but btw, i tried to ask them several questions and they never answered, how did you get an answer and how can we make sure what you said is not a lie?

The EZTeam are on the Chinese IM/social media thing called QQ/tencent QQ (it is actually a really great IM protocol/setup, at least if you can get over the whole China bit). Mbmax has their contact details on there and he and I would occasionally chat with them, I guess this is what happened here.

EZ5, a "shitty" DS flashcard.

Meh, EZ did their best on the DS flashcards, the GBA was their best period.

Was the EZ5 line really so bad? It had the features (though savestates could have been better and the cheats might not have quite been AKAIO/reference grade), the hardware quality was pretty good when compared to the competition, it had the commercial game support (AP dodging, rapid updates and similar features), it did well enough for homebrew (give or take a rough patch at one point) and updates were pretty consistent throughout its lifetime.
No argument that their GBA days were more illustrious but unless you got an EZ5i hoping to ride out the DSi and 3ds updates you would have done OK with EZFlash gear on the DS.

Rocked a Supercard SD and Passcard/Superkey for a long long time.
After that I got an M3 Real before switching quickly to the DSTwo when it launched.

EZ was an okay card, I hold one in me hands once.
Sturdy design indeed but wasn't as wide spread as back in the GBA days nor was it as known as the Supercards/M3

EZ5i was just a quick card to make money.
Just like CycloDSi.
Shame they abandoned that one.

Popular might have depended upon where you were in the world. Apparently they did very well inside China. I am never quite sure what went on in the GBA days, that said they probably were a third to some of the EZFA and F2A devices, supercards were never great during the active releases part of the GBA era (bad ram and every other cart did GBA well) and the M3 was probably still the GBAMP, their G6 stuff did well though when it finally hit.

I am not sure any of the DSi compatible cards were money grabs, most seemed to be genuine upgrades from the previous SDHC compatible updates/upgrades to deal with the new DSi security. Now if you want to talk about cash grabs then I would be not be surprised at all to see several of those that "needed new hardware" to support SDHC were made just to punt another build*.

*that said I am inclined to forgive a tiny bit when the model is "make a cheap/low margin device, sell it and update it freely forever more".

Mbmax is a very old scene member and he probably has the best contact to the EZ-Flash team. He has more than 5 thousand posts in the EZ-Flash forum.

thank you for the info, had no idea mbmax was a known member

btw Mbmax any word from ez team about the gba scene future?

Please ask about open sourcing the EZ-Flash IV, would be great if the community could add FAT32 support to use SD cards over 2GB (SDHC)
I'm not sure that's possible. Does Wood R4 add SDHC compatibility to original R4?
It might be a limitation of the actual sd card reader.
