You forget yourself with multiple areas....Not everyone is from the United States, and this is a privately owned forum. That being said, the "rights" the constitution gives you are non existent. Either way, you have alternative choices for "backup loading" (WiikeyU CobraUDE). Also these guys spend a lot of time working on something they want, and making it the way they want. As they keep saying and others say during this "Let me play backups and do cheats only offline but i updated my WiiU cuz im too addicted to online (but really i promise its for offline)." No one is stopping you (or anyone else) from using all the work they have been doing and keeping open source and implementing on your own codes or "back up launching" exploits.

Everyone chooses not to do so and instead just keep complaining and crying about it. Yes most of you want legal backup capability (most of that has been able to happen over buying the game digitally via the EShop, maybe not every game but almost every game worth owning). But more want it for piracy, and for ultra turbo speed with perfect control in versus mode on Mario Kart 8. Either or, their choice. Learn to code, there is literally information FREE everywhere on the internet on how to do it.

Then you have no right to tell the people here what they can and cannot do with their exploit...

Its always something on this board isn't it? Can't we all just unify and come together on one subject? How about we all just agree on something simple and basic, like the fact that Oreo cookies are delicious. Can we do that?! :D

I kid, you guys are great. In all seriousness though as a web developer I have been trying for a few weeks to find a new WebKit based exploit on my own, but unsurprisingly I have had zero luck. I would still like to helpful though so if there is any web development work that needs to be done I can donate a few hours of my time here and there whenever I am not working on regular client work. It might not progress us toward finding a new exploit any quicker but at least I can help make things pretty :D

PM me if you guys are interested!

People come to me who don't have any experience and ask how they can help. I always say "learn how to RE on an open system before even thinking about jumping into development on a closed one". That is excellent gudenaurock! I am so happy that you are actually interested in learning about security; something I am greatly passionate about. After you learn the ropes on PC I would recommend getting an Xbox 360 or PS3 to hack. They both have excellent communities, great documentation and are PowerPC based. :)

I have a 360, but that will remain unhacked for now. I want live.

Oreos are great!

Hmm... in the meantime one is missing out on various (free) DLC releases.

It seems like this homebrew scene is currently leading nowhere also since it's been months with ~10 people working on it with no reasonable outcome while a single person (Chadderz) made a kernel exploit in 3 days.

Don't feel offended, I thank all of you for helping, but there are too many trolls and noobs acting smart. And no, I can't do it better. I just don't believe in success at current juncture, so I'll update.

If you intend to do the same, chances are that a new exploit will be found on the newest firmware whenever there's anything cracked. In case it's only for outdated firmwares, you can still buy an outdated Wii U.

Problem solved.

Once again, feel free to update. All of our work will make it to the newest firmwares, just because Nintendo doesn't know what we're up to until it's public.
As for progress, we still can't/don't want to say anything because:
A. Saying much of anything about our progress might clue Nintendo into what we're doing
B. Even if it didn't, regular updates on our status would just make us look like attention-seeking assholes. There's a bit of disconnection from the whole 'scene' scene, I think. Thankfully.

Stuff's been slow but steady with people starting school and whatnot, it's a matter of finding free time. That's had a kinda big impact on things.

...this game is going to turn into mario kart wii some day their is no way around that :(

It's pretty obvious that the item system used online is controlled by the server if you play Multiplayer for a while. When cheating is introduced, it will be nothing like what the Wii was. Nintendo couldn't have been stupider with the way they made MKW's online work, I doubt they'll make the same mistakes again.

Mario Kart 7 on the other hand... Not sure how that thing's handled, it looks like a fun game to cheat in.

Especially with the item wheel lag. MK7 and MKWii never had that, so it's a safe bet to assume that the items are controlled by the server.

Lol, I still disagree and say that it'll be very much like MKWii. As experienced Wii game hacker I'm very sure of it. They wouldn't just change their entire network coding for basically nothing but cheating hindrance. Game sequels never change that much. Well, time will tell. Also, they made it a lot easier to cheat in time trials now since it won't desync which is worse than on MKWii. Not a smart move on their part for sure. How we know Nintendo, they never thought about having to deal with cheaters ever again and just kept on relying on their console security. Probably another big mistake in the long run.

I'm still very doubtful the item system online will be anything similar to the previous generation. Other types of modifications, possibly (But if they actually did something to the way items work, they probably did some changes to other core areas). As I said, if you play multiplayer on MK8, it's pretty obvious the server has some kind of control over your items. I haven't played it since they stopped the ability to play online applications without the newest firmware, so the "item lag" people have been experiencing may have been fixed by now. That means no item cheats, but if they don't track player movement, I can still see some fun possibilities for the future.

Not to mention "Nintendo Network" bans and such. But hey, maybe they're still stupid. As you said, time will tell.

Idk which "item lag" you mean but it has been the same in MKWii where people wouldn't get hit on their screens due to lag. Same for this game, they only made the live replay/ theater mode recording slightly more smooth and not everyone teleporting by predicting player actions better? Obviously they don't make a game to be hacking proof but to just make it work, it's the same MKWii engine. The latest firmware version didn't do anything by the way, still the same connection experience from before. It'll probably never change. Lag can't be fixed but it got worse with more players online within the last few months.

Lag with the item boxes themselves I mean. Receiving items, not using them and hitting others. Player lag in general is to be expected in all online gaming.

I get what you're thinking, it's not a bad theory. I just don't feel like using the same engine over a course of time throws the idea of "better protection" out the door. Valve uses the Source Engine, and it has it's fair share of exploits and possible ways to hack it, but they're able to patch them very easily and stay on the same engine. Patches could be another tool up Nintendo's arsenal, but those could probably easily be bypass-able if we have the ability to modify the game like we did on the Wii. That's where "Nintendo Network" comes in, with the banning and such. The ban system sounds like something I'd be interested in seeing how it works. If it works anything like VAC on Steam, I'll be scared of it.
