Hey guys, I'm buying an iPhone 3GS soon, and I was wondering what are the best emulators for DS, GBA, GB, NES, SNES, PSP, Mega Drive and N64. I've seen a few threads here and there, but I decided to make this one to have them all in one place. Also, please tell me if they're buggy or have low FPS (which I expect of PSP and N64).

Thanks :)

Trading my Samsung Galaxy Mini and adding 30€.
That's around 60€

(And it's a 32GB version)

If you could get any more money i would suggest getting something other than an Iphone 3gs as it is not the power house emulator device. I would go for another android device if you get more money.

I am actually an android fanboy, but I want an iDevice for most of the games that are "iOS only", like Corpse Party, Ace Attorney Trilogy, etc. Even if I don't find any good emulators for a 3GS, it's not the end of the world, I have GB and NES on my DS with a R4, so that's 3 systems on the go, as for others, I'll probably start using all of those emulators I've had on my PC since forever x)

You should goggle the games you want or might want to play and see if the 3gs is compatible. You never know what game you'd really want but be limited by your outdated hardware.

Yeah the 3GS is still on ios 6, 7 was a huuuuge change. Plus there is more development of stuff like emulators on android since you are not required to have a license and you do not need to jailbreak you device.

The iPhone 3GS is really underpowered compared to more recent phones. It hung on long after similar models stopped getting updates.

And most updated games require iOS 7, so you'll want an iPhone 4 or higher. iOS 8 is shipping soon, then you'll need an iPhone 4S or higher.

If you have the extra money, the iPod Touch 5th Gen can be found pretty cheap. I recently saw one new for $170, they normally sell for $230 or more. It should be updated through iOS 9, I think. You may also be able to find an iPad Mini (non retina display) pretty cheap.

OP already said they had Android and want to try iOS for it's games appeal, that iOS gets games Android doesn't or has yet to get. Which is totally fine if thats your preference, but just don't see the 3GS worthwhile owning in 2014 transitioning to 2015 with an even newer OS adopted by the majority...

But OP did say he/she was coming from a Galaxy Mini, which I assume is S3 Mini, so I don't know if thats an upgrade or downgrade. If OP just sold his Mini he'd make atleast double than trade in. Seriously, broken/defective S3-Minis sell for 30-40€ in US ebay market. Slap that 32GB on there and you already raise your price by 15€

Not sure if its the best idea to get a device just cause of 2 games that are already released on other platforms.
I mean you could get more with a PSP or a Gateway compatible 3DS than a iPhone 3GS.
I would consider the purchase of it.

That would be a better suggestion unless op happens to use a phone as a phone. They'd need a phone then, which is the opposite of me who uses a phone to do everything except communicate with other people. If PMP's evolved to be do-everything machines like a Note 2, then I'd never buy a phone.

He did say he was a android fanboy which implies he has a android phone? I mean if i said that i love chicken wings you would probably see me eat chicken wings a lot.
If i had a phone already and wanted to play 2 of the games that are already on other consoles + its cheaper on them and you can more stuff on those, then i would choose the console instead of the phone.

First of all, I don't have a S3 Mini, but an old, Gingerbread Mini (S5570I). And trust me, a 3GS is WAY better and faster compared to this thing.
Second, I can't get a PSP, iPad Mini, iPod 5, 3DS with Gateway etc. because of my small budget. I'm a 16 year old with poor pocket money that I only get when I go to school, so even collecting enough for a 3GS is a pain in the ass for me.
Third, I did check every game's compatibility on iTunes before I decided on purchasing this.

Try finding some easy weekend work :) I'm not sure about the laws over there but from my 16th I did 2 days of weekend work per month (Saturdays) at a checkout in a shop, that was about 100/month for very little effort. Ended up buying an expensive desktop PC, laptop for college, quite some trips abroad and some savings :) its definitely worth it :)

Yeah telling someone to find a job is pretty insulting. Most places wont hire 16 years olds and when they do, its for summer job bs like snowcone guy or pool boy which end when school starts up again. Not only that but its incredibly difficult if that 16 year old hasn't been handed a car. Cars are expensive, and kids have no money. If parents can't provide them one, its for a good reason. And when people do hire people under 18, the jobs are most importantly, very limited, and every 16, 17, as well as anyone over 18 is likely trying to secure that job position. Even when you're over 18 finding a job is harder than ever. Many jobs requiring entry-level jobs to already have entry level experience which is a catch 22 trend we're seeing more of each year while everyone in the city is competing just to make a living. Getting a job that young is not that easy.

And OP has given every reason not to abandon an aging iphone. They should go ahead and get one even if it isn't the most ideal for emulation and recent games.
