One of the very first games I've ever owned for the Gamecube was Resident Evil, affectionately called RE:Make by the fans. This title was easily one of the best-looking games on the system despite the fact that the environments were actually pre-rendered.
For years gamers wanted this version to be re-released on other systems, but for whatever reason this never happened. Well, we're finally getting the remastered version of the game, this time in full HD, and it's made by the very same staff that worked on the Gamecube version of the game.
Resident Evil HD will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2015.

Seriously Capcom?
I though you were trying to squeeze the money out of the most played RE of all time, yet you refuse to listen to your fans about creating a RE 2&3 remake.

Also, no Wii U version?
There is no excuse as to not do it on Wii U as well, since PS3 and 360 are on graphical pair with it.

NOTE: I won't reply to anyone saying it is because of system sales.

Agreed... milking a dying cow again for "supposed" sales. They sold out decades ago and the idea factory was the first thing they closed.

Alright, it's not because of system sales, it's because mature games are not selling very well on Nintendo's platforms as of late and Capcom doesn't want to risk releasing the game for a system that might just cause them grief and financial losses - not in their current financial state.

"Milking a dead cow again"? This remastered version was released once twice - on the Gamecube and the Wii. What's the problem with re-releasing it on other platforms today?

EDIT: Correction, it was re-released on the Wii, I completely forgot about that one. :P

That didn't stop Capcom from releasing the original remake in the Gamecube, did it?

The PS2 was the most sold console in that era, yet they went for Gamecube.
So put your asses into work and now port it to Wii U, DO SOME WORK and not just add some HD textures to the god damn game to sell something, you bastards. XD

See above. XD

Ermm.... Twice.
Once for Gamecube, another one for Wii. Don't forget the NGC version was a total remake of the original, and a much needed one.

No I meant re-re-re-releasing a pre-existing game... instead of, you know, something new or good.

Also the RE series in general has been floundering for direction in the last couple iterations as well.

I'm not sure what's the problem here, Resident Evil was only ever released in four versions - the original one, Director's Cut, Deadly Silence (Nintendo DS) and RE:Make, RE:Make being exclusive to the Gamecube and unavailable anywhere else, which is why every single Resident Evil fan on the planet wanted this particular version to be re-released.

You are forgetting the Wii version. That was already a re-release of the game, and a very poor one since it only added Wiimote controls. No more bonus or extras.

Archives: Resident Evil is practically identical to the Gamecube version, so I'm not even going to count that as a separate "version" for all the reasons you've mentioned above. :P

Hence the three "re-". This is the fourth release of the game.

Edit: I feel like this whole RE: re- joke is going to be sicking in a short shot....

I suppose you're right, but my point is that people genuienly want this version over the old PS1 one that was re-released as a PS1 Classic. It's the best-looking release with (arguably) the best atmosphere and voice acting and the fact that it's exclusive to the Gamecube and the Wii was a big bummer to... well, everybody who's not a Nintendo gamer.

But that just proves my point :P
Archives is the perfect example (along with all the RE 4 version that I no longer can count) that Capcom is not giving any real effort but to port previous games to other hardware just for easy money.

Since Shinji Mikami left Capcom, RE went to hell. And I'm not saying RE 4 (which he was involved with) was bad, hell no, it was (and still is) one of the greatest game ever.
Just see how it went from 5 onward...

I am seriously pissed off at Capcom for what they are doing to the franchises I loved as a kid.
RE and Megaman being a perfect example.
They have all gone to HELL.

And add to that the fact that it won't be on Wii U.
SCREW YOU CAPCOM!
I will get this on PC for free because I'm not paying thrice for one game. XD (JK)

I will say that it is the Only version of any RE: game I have ever played. I also only really enjoyed it because of the grenade launcher exploit.

That's fucked up on no Wii U version. I have other systems but I'd rather play on the Wii U at least for off screen play.

Apparently this is going to remain at 30 FPS. What does that make Jill, the master of frame-locking?

That happened because Nintendo went out of its way to make a contract with Capcom for the titles (and others, like Viewtiful Joe, RE4, RE0, etc.). If Nintendo isn't going to go out of its way to bring games to its faltering console, why should publishers go out of their way to bolster it?

Take the ass devastation down a notch, please.

I'd rather have a remastered version of a game that I consider a classic and one of the few saving graces of the Gamecube than another mediocre Resident Evil. The way I see it, at least they're re-investigating how the old games used to work. Perhaps they're gauging interest in games of this type to compare it with the results of their more "action-oriented" releases? Who knows. What I do know is that they're in a tough spot financially and perhaps they just can't afford to release Resident Evil 7 that wouldn't suck, so they're opting for this instead. Besides, it's a digital re-release - nothing to get your panties in a bunch over, but definitely something for the fans of the series.

I am aware of that deal between Capcom and Nintendo.
But Capcom was well aware of the sales of both PS2 and Gamecube during that time, yet sales didn't stopped them from releasing the game in a less successful (selling-wise of course) console.

*Cough cough* They released Resident Evil 4 on PS2 and PC as well, y'know... in fact, the PS2 version has the most content (although it looks the worst, for obvious technological reasons).

Exactly.
Contract or not, Capcom will only seek money :)
Fact is gaming is no longer a matter of fans or creators, is just money now :/
