Ok so this is a weird problem. However it's only been happening with Wii's that I've taken apart, and put back together. For some of them I have taken a part from another Wii. Everything works fine, but the GC games boot to one side? So 1/3 of the screen is not on the TV. I just can't make sense of this, what could possibly be causing it?

It's happened to at least 3 Wii's, but it has never happened before with the Wii's that I didn't take apart.

Bump because the problem is getting worse. I am now getting green screen after diosmios (which is still shown to one side whether it's the right or the left). It's just happened to a Wii that was just working with Melee, and I only attatched the front part (with the buttons) to the Wii. Why is it suddenly doing this and why have several Wii's done this after none of them doing it before? I am even using a different SD card now. Please help! :S

Okay first of all, is there a reason why you are taking apart so many Wii's and putting them back together? If this has happened multiple times, then maybe just avoid taking them apart all together. The only thing I can help you with is the green screen, and all I have to say is that it's normal. I get a green flash every time I load a gc game. It stays on the screen a few seconds and then goes away. Over 70 people have looked at this thread, and none have replied. These aren't some random people either, these are software engineers, programmers, and people who have been modding for years. I'm inclined to think that what you are doing must be pretty out there if none of these highly qualified people have anything constructive to say. If you can avoid it (I don't know if your job is refurbishing Wii's) stop taking them apart. One of the most convenient things about a Wii is that they can be soft modded. Utilize that feature, and you'll find life is a whole lot easier.

Thanks for the reply, I'm just finding this so confusing that I feel the need to figure out why this is happening. I am part of a large group of Smash Bros players and I supply these Wii's to tournaments and players, and I just got these Wii's from a joblot on ebay, many of them came with no front, or some had no functioning disc drive. I took the disc drives out of some Wii's without gamecube ports, but I've also taken a Wii AS IT IS, and done nothing at all except for screwing in the front part. I then tested this Wii (I had already been testing it before screwing the front back on) and it was working fine. I turned it off and went back to it later, and all of the sudden, diosmios is doing what I was talking about.

Since then, I have gone to the Wii menu and changed the settings to 60hz, back to 50hz, burn in reduction off/on, and changed settings in cfg loader. I know I'm just doing pure guesswork, but diosmios no longer is shown to one side, it stays in the middle, but I've so far either gotten a green screen or a black screen. If there are no answers to this then it's no problem I just find this whole thing really baffling, and wanted to put these Wii's to use (it wont be a huge loss if I can't, I just really want to know WHY they work for a while then suddenly don't work, and what the problem actually is).

I'm guessing it's just a specific batch of Wii's that have some problems, as many of them came without a front attached, while other Wii's were just normal ones with no working disc reader. I think I'm just going to replace them, but I'd rather know that I tried everything, I won't bump this again if no one knows anything about it. Thanks anyway :)

Wow man! Well, I have to say that is a pretty good reason for taking apart Wii's. I'm glad you fixed the screen display, but let's talk Dios Mios now. Are you absolutely sure that your HDD is compatible with Dios Mios? Many are not, so I would try Dios Mios lite. The difference is that Dios Mios loads from the HDD, and Dios Mios lite loads from the SD. Also, did you patch your mios file? The original Wii mios doesn't work with Dios Mios, so you have to patch it before you can load any games from SD/HDD/disc. It comes down to personal preference, but I prefer usb-loader gx as a back up loader. Install usb-loader gx, and make sure your GameCube settings are set to "Mios". It would help if you posted a syscheck as well. Then everyone reading this will know your Wii's situation instantly. Try to get the oldest Wii's you can in the future. The ones that were first released are the easiest to softmod. Korean Wii's have been reformatted to NTSC-U as well, and I've read that you can't softmod those either so don't buy any of those if you can avoid it. I hope that answers at least some of your questions. Judging by your situation, I think a lot of it is relevant.

EDIT: Disregard the statement about NTSC-U Wii's. I didn't realize you were in the United Kingdom :P

Thanks for all the advice :) and I tried Nintendont, had never heard of it but it has worked (usb controllers work?!). I really do want to have all the games appearing in a usb loader with the cover images though, since it's just much cooler... so I will see if another dios mios will work. I knew it wasn't the usb because I've ran into problems with previous usb's (I had to return some), and I had tried 2 different usb's that definitely worked on various Wii's in the past, some are just weird.

I also didn't mention that SSBB was playing very choppy, but that was fixed when I changed the Wii's video settings.

Edit: ok, I managed to set usb loader gx to boot GC games using nintendon't, so this should be fine :) even though I like the simple layout and the cursor control of cfg loader, if this works then that's good enough. Thanks again for all the help, I may just stick to this now.

Edit2: final issue.. priiloader wont boot straight into usbloadergx :(

Edit3: I got a usbloadergx forwarder, and can now boot into it :D
