Hi,

Ok so let me try and explain my problem and I hope there is a solution for I have found none.
I softmodded my Wii to play Ocarina of Time ntsc-j/u since my wii was european pal.
I did this following tutorials and everything worked well until I lost my sd card which left me stuck in ntsc-u since the region changer was on that sd card(with the whole directory).
I can't access my settings, therefore I can't see my mac address and I don't know how to either softmod my wii again or how to add wads or a region changer from an empty sd card.

Q: Which guide did you follow?
A: I remember using this but I may have used some other guides. http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?topic=1271.0

Q: Do you have the Homebrew Channel?
A: Yes.

Q: Do you have the original Letterbomb you made when modding?
A: No. Date of mod should be around 25th of July 2013.

Q: Do you have Bootmii as boot2 installed?(Without SD card inserted the DVD drive lights will flash 4 times a few seconds after power on, before it loads to Warning screen or System Menu)
A: It does one slow flash and then 2/3 quick flashes so I don't think so.

Q: Do you have Preloader/Priioader installed?
A: Yes

Q: Did you install any other channel that launches an app that was on SD or USB?
A: List of Channels
The Homebrew Channel
USb Loader GX
Neogamma R9 beta 56
Gamecube Launcher
Backup HBC
WAD INJECT: Zelda no Densetsu: Toki no Ocarina (Not useable)
WAD INJECT: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Useable)
WAD INJECT: The Legend of Zelda (Useable)
WAD INJECT: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Useable)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So to my understanding, you are saying your Wii does not boot up right?
It only boots with the SD card that you lost?

The mistake you made was using a region changer. Priiloader/Preloader has the ability to override region anyway.

No not at all, my Wii boots up fine I can play all my channels (except NTSC-J Ocarina of Time)
The problem is my Wii is stuck in NTSC-U since i can't change my region.
Also because I lost my SD card I don't know how to add/delete channels/wads from my Wii.

What I want to be able to do is Region Change and Add/Delete WADS.

Thanks in advance

Okay. That makes things much easier.
Is there any chance you have another SD card laying around? You will need an SD card to do anything further to the Wii.
Once you have another SD card, download the region changer again and set it back to EU/PAL.
Trash that program for good.
After that you need to download a hacks.ini for Priiloader to enable region free.
If you don't mind, It would greatly help if you took a picture of what your Wii settings looks like.

I'd love to do that but I have no idea how to, if i put in my SD homebrew channel doesn't show the region changer, it clearly recognizes the SD card but nothing shows up...

i put it on the SD in apps>ARCmod06_offline>the files

My SD is formatted to FAT32 which should be correct.

Try putting another app on the SD card and see if it shows and loads.

Hi

I downloaded WAD Manager 1.5 and it crashed with a bunch of numbers on the screen.

I tried with Snes9xGX and it kept loading and I couldn't do anything, had to restart wii

I tried with homebrew browser, got a black screen

I tried with wii64 and it kept loading and I couldn't do anything, had to restart wii

i tried with a different region changer and it crashed again.

You don't need region changers to play games out of your region, first of all.
Why is it so hard for people to install wads? It's so easy!

1. Set up Wifi on Wii or download IOS36 on PC from NUS and put on sd card
2. Run Simple IOS Patcher to create a patched IOS 236.
3. Use any wad manager you want, setting it to install with IOS 236.

I've set up wad installing on about 15 wii's this way, not one issue ever.

If you wanted to play OoT Japanese, you'd install the game, and either use hacks.ini with priiloader to set your wii regionfree or just use GekkoOS on homebrew channel.

When you use sketchy tools like region changers, you're gonna have a bad time.

---

You said you had priiloader. Try booting directly into that by holding reset while powering your wii on. Load HBC from there and see if that fixes your crashing apps problem, it might let you region change back to what it was before, European.

Hopefully that'll do.

Hi and thanks for the help thus far.

After some messing around with the priiloader HBC I managed to install IOS36 with NUS, but Simple Ios Patcher crashes my wii everytime, I also tried loading a region changer, that either wouldn't load or crash aswell.

1 step further once again and thanks again thus far.

You didn't need to install IOS36, you either need WIFI on your Wii or the IOS36.wad on your SD card so Simple IOS Patcher can install cIOS236, a patched version of IOS36 in a different slot. If you don't have WIFI, you need to give HBC about a min BEFORE loading SIP or it will crash...

Better idea, use Modmii Skin to first remod you system. But when answering the questions say you are:
Modding for first time
on 4.3 SM
U (USA) region (you can say E region as you won't be installing a SM wad just yet)
Wilbrand exploit (Use any 12 digits for MAC address as you won't need Wilbrand)
Stay on SM 4.3 (this will avoid install a system menu wad for now and keep priiloader installed)
Skip installing channels
DO NOT install a theme
Skip USB loader setup

This will get your Wii to a known setup and and then things will be easier...

Seems how you have a working HBC, you didn't need Wilbrand, just load the Hackmii installer from HBC.

When doing the guide, you can skip the first steps of installing HBC and Bootmii / making a NAND backup BUT even though you wouldn't want to ever use that NAND backup you probably should do it just to get your keys.bin.
Just be sure to reinstall HBC at end of guide if you have an older version OR if it runs on anything other than IOS58. (this is most likely reason for your apps crashing)

Once all this is done then you should be able to follow the region change guide of Modmii and get your Wii back to a E (PAL) version.

And the steps you did in the first part, remodding with Modmii (patches the IOS the SM uses) and then keeping Priiloader installed (even after the region change) should give you a setup that allows region free.

Or I know USBLoader GX has a channel launcher, so if you load that first then launch the Japanese OOT you should be fine.

And then once you are back to original region and everything works including settings menu, go back into Bootmii and make a new NAND backup.

Hi and thanks for the help,

I've managed to do nearly everything you have said
I can play the Japanese OoT & English OoT by turning on Region Free in System Menu Hacks.
Which is nearly everything I need.
My only problem left I can't seem to install a Region Changer so I can't switch back to PAL.
(I tried changing AnyRegion_Changer1.1b.dol to boot.dol it still wouldn't show up in HBC
This means I can't access my settings/play PAL games I own.
I still also don't know how to install WAD games from here.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try using Multi-Mod Manager?

I put Any Region Changer in my apps directory and renamed AnyRegion_Changer1.1b.dol to boot.dol.
Everytime I tried to open the folder with MMM it gave an error.

I also tried putting only the .dol in my apps and that wouldn't launch either

I did however manage to install a WAD using MMM so that's great.
If i could get a region changer working that'd be all I need !

I've never messed around with changing a region, ever, just read about people's misfortunes...

If the ARCmod06_Offline found in the Modmii Skin Region Change guide isn't working the only other one I'd try would be the one in Wiimod.
I have used Wiimod and it did what I needed it to do. Later in that thread there is Wiimod lite, and it had Region Change added back in starting on v1.2

As far as playing the games you own, GX is region free and has an option to mount the disc drive. Any Retail disc in the drive could be played that way...
