Hacking USB HDD problems... Flash works fine.

Ok, so I spent this weekend messing around with my wii u trying to softmod the vwii.

So after much work, I cold not get either usb loader or confg loader to find my hdd, but they found my US Flash drive, and SD via card reader fine. Weird thing is, the wii u found my hd, and wanted to format it, but the loaders found nothing.

i have 56-249, 57-250, 58-251 for cios'. The one thing I did notice, that config loader does not seem to try ios 251 (which would be my 58 with max hdd compatability), so i tried 58 into ios 249, still nothing.

Oya, im pretty sure its not a power issue, as the wiiu sees the drives, and i have them plugged into a powered usb hub (tried both 2.0 and 3.0).

Also, weird thing is i can only get config loader to find my flash drive when its in the top port.. but from everything ive read it should only work in the bottom??

My USB HDD was not recognized on the wii u until i used a Y cable (as the wii u usb ports have less power than the ones on the wii). I never tried a powered usb hub, should work. but try a y cable. around 5€ at amazon.

Ok, thank you. Yeah, I went ahead and ordered a cable... But I really dont think its a power issue.. maybe something else to do with the hub?

Anyone else have any other ideas on what I could try while I wait for shipping?

Well the cable worked.. I was sure my HD had enough power, but thanks for the help anyways folks!

I asked because after a certain firmware Nintendo blocked self powering usb devices as you can see ;-)
