Seems kind of pointless to hack the console if all the user is going to do is pirate games. I buy the games myself a few days after they're released for a small price drop which makes them worth it overall.

Don't forget that those who bought the console are probably going to buy the Wii Key U which might cost up to $100 and that's supporting piracy over developers who deserve, then again, it's their money so do what you want with it.

Neither I nor anyone else who helped me with this hack is doing it for piracy. What we want is homebrew.

All I can say is QFMFT :D

Thank god the people on this scene aren't deliberately trying to avoid enabling piracy, and limiting the overall potential this exploit has (HINT: Smealum with the shitty 3DS scene).

I just want cheats right now, though. :P

Exactly, getting general homebrew running first is paramount, at least, I think :P

Wii u releases are so few and far between and so far all of the games I own are great games worth owning so only use a backup launcher would have would be to not have to change discs for me and that really doesn't bother me. What would be awesome is to be able to play games from any region and devolution gamecube loader working in wii u mode being able to use the gamepad

I've heard nothing but bad things about Devolution versus Nintendont which is a lot more open, I don't agree with Devolution at all. Then again, I've heard Nintendont running into a lot of issues with memory and the kernel and bluetooth support, so... As for a virtual console-like gamecube loader, there's no doubt that someone's gonna make one, without all the limitations of vWii mode. HOWEVER, anything usable isn't gonna be around for a while, considering we don't even have access to the filesystem and all the data yet.

Nintendo has been pretty consistent with their updates, it's hard not update to 5.0 for example, it makes the load times between apps faster, the Home menu also had a nice retouch.

I would suggest for regular people to update to 5.0. The exploit that was found is currently useless(to the end user), and MN1 and others have stated they are updating the exploit for 5.0. Before you argue that you might get the homebrew channel and apps running on 4.1 quicker than on 5.0, we still need a kernel exploit and the common keys to do so.(I believe. Correct me if i am wrong.), and regardless of what firmware you are on you'll get it at the same time for either firmware. You also might lose your chance to update if nintendo releases 5.01 or 5.1. You have nothing to lose, and as long as the key people to the scene are in the firmware they need to be in, it shouldn't matter to you.

What is it that you don't agree with about devolution if you don't mind me asking? I know a lot of people don't like the added AP but it doesn't really bother me and nearly every game works flawlessly with it, I usually use my ps3 controller for the analogue triggers.
And yeah I realise homebrew will probably be a long way off I thought I would just state the point that not everyone wants to pirate everything lol

Closed source with only one person working on it keeping it all to himself, and then putting other people down when they try to make something better(Nintendont). Closed source can burn, wiiscrubber is another example. At least put it on github or bitbucket so other people can work on it if they want.
I wonder if mods for games counts as piracy to the hackers...?
Nah, that's all MN1 and I have been doing for years(http://kuribo64.net/?page=board), that's gonna be one of the first things we add :P

It took a while but finally this thread also derailed to some pointless piracy / legacy discussion as most of these do...

It's not like tomorrow we will see a backup loader arriving that will rip and scrub your wiiu disk and allow you to play your game from your harddisk.
Obviously, it will be backwards compatible with wii disks and gamecube disks, allowing to play those games with wathever controller you might have lying around.
And before you all start asking, no, I can not give the link to that loader...

Which implicates that nothing will be released until it's deemed ready for release, correct?

Wow how exciting, a legit exploit release. I already updated to version 5 and will probably be screwed for long while but if this leads to anything then hell yeah

Please reread, you're not screwed, no one on 5.0.0 is, there will still be an exploit, it has to be reworked a bit but reputable coders for the Wii U scene have stated all is not lost, just don't update past 5.0.0 Long as you don't update, you'll be fine.

Playing melee on my gamepad would be so cool. And just think about ssb4 mods *drools*

You can block
Code:
http://nus.cdn.shop.wii.com/ccs/download/
in your router, I don't know if that'll actually block it though

There's more to it than that, that's just for the eShop itself I believe, there's a post, need to find it, but you need to block the actual server IP address itself.

Edit: Kippykip should be
