I have a soft-moded wii on which I play games off a WBFS drive with USBLoader GX. Recently I got my hands on a ps2 slim (soft-moded with free mcboot) and I know I can boot games from an external USB source but since I'm a cheap bastard I don't want to get another HDD. If I were to split the drive into two partitions one WBFS the other NTFS would I be able to play on both consoles with the same hard disk?Would I need to lose the files on the hard drive before splitting it?

Like XiTaU said, format the drive as FAT32. None of the files will conflict. Wii has a apps folder, PS2 has a BOOT folder. Rip your Wii games to a .wbfs file and place in the wbfs folder. Rip the PS2 games to an .iso if under 4GB, CD games go in a folder called CD, DVD games go in a folder called DVD. Games over 4GB will have to be ripped to the root of the drive with USBUtil or USB Extreme.

USB loading on the PS2 is incredibly slow and choppy + not all games work.
But it is possible to split the drive into 2 partitions as suggested previously.
QFT, forget about USB loading on the PS2, go SMB if you don't have the option to use an internal HDD. USB loading is slow and glitchy, it's only recommended as a last resort. ;)

after some researching and your help my current configuration is as goes : the USB hard drive is plugged into the wii and my pc simultaneously (double cable on one side) and is shared on the home network while my PS2 is plugged into the home network, booting games from there. Thank you all
