I though that since this thread: http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-assembling-3ds-homebrew-for-gateway.365885/ we might be able to play NOP90's tetris 3DS HB, and im sure I saw a nes emulator possibly? ah well... back to kirby triple deluxe...
The play coin generator is a sdk app.
The multicolour screen app is nowhere avaible as app I think.
yeah it does work you need to get the one repackaged by 3dsguy though.....i think he was just being finicky as it was a debug tool as opposed to homebrewSo, even now the play coin generator doesn't work? Or you're just saying it's not technically homebrew?
He's just saying that it isn't technically homebrew. The generator works just fine. So, even now the play coin generator doesn't work? Or you're just saying it's not technically homebrew?

also i don't remember where i got the gradient screen homebrew, but it is on here somewhere......doesnt do anything except having a coloured screen with occasional flashing....but that was is homebrew afaik, if i remember correctly it was from a tool made for creating your own homebrew game icons, but i cant seem to find the thread no more
But then how do games allocate the amount of memory they need?
hmmm but if i remember correctly, the launcher.dat ram dumper was able to dump some game assets, so im not sure the ram is cleared upon closing the game, although it might be possible that it would be wiped upon launching another game, but who knows it would still only be scraps of what was left loaded into memory might be useful for audio rips and stuff like that. i assume gateway loads itself into the system settings side of ram which would not be accessible by a app running in usermodethis is my guess how it works. the 3ds has 128MB ram. the some is reserved to the system menu. im not sure how much. maybe 32M. the rest is used for games. when a game is ram the system says ok here is your 96MB, enjoy. the game cant see the 32mb section used by system. when the software is closed, system wipes clean the 96MB for use with another software.
so if a ram dumper was made all it beable to dump is the empty 96mb ram it was given to use

I ripped some sound effects from a couple games using the launcher.dat ram dumper, but not anything more than 10 seconds or sohmmm but if i remember correctly, the launcher.dat ram dumper was able to dump some game assets, so im not sure the ram is cleared upon closing the game, although it might be possible that it would be wiped upon launching another game, but who knows it would still only be scraps of what was left loaded into memory might be useful for audio rips and stuff like that. i assume gateway loads itself into the system settings side of ram which would not be accessible by a app running in usermode
I tried loading the homebrew screen test and got a blue screen like the one that bricked consoles show...Is this normal? I thought my 3DS was bricked until I tried rebooting and it seems to be working fine. Also is there a way to convert Homebrew launched via a launcher.dat to a gateway compatible format like .3ds?
Yes, that was exactly what was meant to happen, it's like a fake bluescreen app. A fun prank while seeing about getting things working properly.
Yes, but you have to compile it yourself from source. Tools will come out shortly to get homebrew running proper, right now it's more of a developers only thing.
Ah...now I feel like an idiot Do you think it be possible to write a program that runs in the background and takes screenshots of running games? It would be really cool if we could eventually record game footage! I have a friend with an xbox 360 development kit and it's possible to record game footage without a capture card.

i think he means gateway would have to allow such a feature, either letting people make plugins which gateway will then load......pretty unlikely, or they code it themselves and include it in a update....but i think they have bigger fish to fry atmWhich I thought would be impossible with the GW loader because it doesn't enable enough control to patch the system menu?
i might be wrong, but I'm fairly sure he already did this ages ago...one final option would be seeing if smealum would add a screenshot feature or something into his work
