So I dumped my own copy of Pokémon X, with no save data on it, and renamed it .3dz - it was able to go online just fine.

Those saves do not work with Scene dumps. But the USA/EUR/JPN Scene dumps are cross compatible if you leave them .3ds and don't try to go online.

Hmm. Really curious about this. Is it encrypting the saves differently, tied to my cartridge's online ID?

Is it really possible for Nintendo to ban consoles from accessing online? Or only cards?

Also, do headers follow a pattern for a specific game, so would Nintendo be able to tell the difference between two cards of the same type but different games? Like Kirby and Luigi's Mansion?

Hi, I have absolutely no clue what to do now. I'm supposed to create a ROM dump or something right, using 2.2?
I'm at the thing and I'm given the error code in the image I've attached. I can confirm the cartridge is clean.

If that error is all F's, then try cleaning the contacts again. I was getting that error and the contacts on my Mario Kart looked perfectly clean, but I scratched at them with a fingernail and then it worked.

Mario Golf works but cannot use this card online??? Error code 002-0123

I had the same error with Mario Golf earlier when I had the firmware hex as 45 (fw 6.2) but then I changed it to C2 (fw4.5 and below?) and it let me connect online and play just fine (4 player mario golf online all at the same time and not taking shots in turns was good fun!)

I tried using A Link Between Worlds with monster hunter 3 ultimate, just adjusting the filesize to 2 gb. And still got the "can't use this card online" error.

Derp. Forgot to 3dz it.

For the record:

Using Pokemon X - Contrast Dump
Personal Pokemon Y Dump.

I inserted Pokemon Y header onto Pokemon X-Contrast and renamed .3DZ
Save shows as corrupted.
Can go online after deleting save

Renamed as .3DS
Save still loads (I backed up a copy)
can't go online.

The byte at offset 0x1240 is the manufacturer ID.

45 = SanDisk
AE = OKI Semiconductor
C2 = Macronix

For people having issues to run pokemon online, here's the chip id from my Pokemon X own cartridge dump (europe version). Try by using this value : C2 F8 00 98 00 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF

This worked with my Paper Mario Sticker Star header for Pokemon X Contrast rom. Thanks

Got a brand new "Cubic Ninja" for 99 cents from eBay ($3 shipping killed the deal, but $3.99 for a factory sealed game is still good). I will test with this game's header and let you know!

First and foremost. Read through the entire first post. Everything you need to get a rom working online is there. Seriously. EVERYTHING.

Unless you're asking for pokemon which is ok because it's apparently not as straightforward to get online working.
