i think it would power on, but won't do anything because... the stick wouldn't recieve any command from the ac adapter. i don't think the female USB plug of the AC adapter is equipped with the 2 data wires (the white and green one).
or try what happens... versuch macht kluch' :D

Well, considering most wall chargers are 1000mA and computer USB slots are 500mA...

What would happen if you put jet fuel in a standard car?

@TyBlood13
I must try it and put jet fuel in a standard car. I might be able to find Hogwarts that way. haha

On topic:
It'll probably probably fry some components on the usb stick OR nothing will happen. It's 1A(1000mA) on the wall charger vs 500mA on the PC.

Sorry for double posting, but the results are in.
My USB card reader does nothing.
USB HDD turns on, spin, and does nothing.

But neither are flash drives, which is what I'm assuming he's asking about. Can't help but wonder if it'd do something different.

The internet actually runs through the powerlines, DSL connections and such control what information you get from the internet, plugging in a usb to the power would intercept all usage going through the power lines but you have no way of controlling it.

Do they both work afterward?
Yeah they do

So I plugged in my old flashdrive. The light lit for about 2s, then nothing happened.

Well we use separate cables here.
