Okay, so here's what happened. I had The HomBrew Channel on my 4.3U Wii for a while, and I found out about something called "MyMenuify". I thought it looked pretty cool, but I heard it was dangerous and could get your wii bricked. So following a bunch of tutorials, I backed up my NAND, installed MMM, and installed Priiloader. So I wanted to try out MyMenuify. I downloaded a theme, and Voila!

It was Bricked.

I unbricked my wii using the obvious method of running Priiloader, opening the homebrew channel, and installing the original default theme for the wii, and it worked.

Later on, though, as I kept trying more and more themes, nothing was working. I heard that if you have Wii 4.1U, you have no risk at all of having your wii bricked. So I downloaded a popular folder online for installing 4.1U, and successfully installed it.

Here's the problem.

I tried installing a theme, and Voila!

It was Bricked.

I went on my computer, got out NUS Downloader, downloaded the .app file for 4.1U so I could use MyMenuify to unbrick my Wii, and went on my wii.

I held down reset while pushing/pressing the power button,(that's how you open Priiloader) and nothing happened. Priiloader wasn't working.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how I can unbrick it and get priiloader to work again. I have a NAND, but I don't see how that's gonna work without being able to turn the wii on at all.

In case anyone's wondering, I believe I had bootmii installed as a boot2.

First of all your themes aren't working but they have to be the right system menu version. For example if you are running 4.2 then you got to get themes made for a 4.2 system menu or it will result in a brick. Why don't you just use your bootmii sd card and go to the HBC using bootmii instead of priiloader?

Priiloader isnt working anymore because you changed the system menu.
Anytime you upgrade or downgrade the system menu priiloader will be overwritten.

If you have bootmii as boot2 then theres really no need for priiloader as far as brick protection goes but you could use it for the other hacks it offers.

...Well... Then how do I access it?

And if I'm wrong and I really don't have it, then is there any other way to fix it?

Use modmii and then goto downloads page #2 and build the bootmii sd files.

After you download them transfer them to your sd card and then insert the sd card into the wii when its off. Then turn the wii on.
If you have bootmii as boot2 then bootmii will load. If you don't have bootmii as boot2 then nothing will happen.

If you have BootMii installed as boot2 and you start your Wii without a sd card inserted, then your Wii's drive will blink once, and then 2 times in quick succession. This double blinking is BootMii telling you that it did not find the BootMii files on sd card.

If you don't have BootMii installed as boot2, but you made a nand backup, then you got another option. But you won't like it, because it requires using a hardware nand flasher, or sending the Wii to somebody who has one.

The procedure would be to either get a nand flasher or send your wii out to someone who does. You'd be better off buying a new Wii over buying a NAND flasher because the price is quite high unless you know how to program the chip yourself.

Where is a trustworthy place to buy a NAND flasher, and how do I use it?

finding an wii NAND flasher is extremely difficult...using it is also not for the faint of heart.

i don't have experience recovering from this type of brick, but since the OP is not on SM4.3, wouldn't savemiifrii work? if so, only an authentic wii game with a system menu update greater than what the wii currently has, and a gamecube controller (and the means to dismantle it) would be needed.

i'm not 100% certain, so if someone else in the know could confirm...that'd be great!

Well, then. If GETTING one is extremely difficult, then what about this thing I keep hearing about sending my wii to someone who DOES have one? Where can I find someone like that?

if i were you, i'd wait to get savemiifrii confirmation first...or just try recovering with savemiifrii.... it'll be faster and cheaper even if you have to buy hardware and/or rent a game.

DeadlyFoez is the guy to talk to for infectus recovery... he doesn't work for free though.

1. What is savemiifrii?

2. How the heck would that fix my problem if I can't turn it on?

3. Where can I find this "DeadlyFoez" guy, and how much does he normally charge?

1. a way to recover from theme bricks. it involves forcing a maintenance mode in which you can launch games. if you launch a game that requires an update to play, it will force a SM update. if your SM is updated, that overwrites your badly themed SM. IIRC, the only thing required for it to work is an intact SM IOS (which it sounds like you have). for the rest of the details...google is a thing.
2. if your wii doesn't power on, then it's a hardware problem. there's a difference between being able to power on and a theme related brick.
3. DF is here on the forums....there's a search field right at the top of this page. i can't tell you what he currently charges...and i'm not going to speculate.

...you need to be able to help yourself a little here.... i gave you more than enough to get you on your way; a little searching is all you need! nothing i've spoken of is a secret...this is all well documented stuff. i don't know if savemiifrii will help, but from what i know about it and what you described is the problem, it should....if someone more familiar with it could confirm, that would be great.

It powers on. I just get a black screen, and it happened immediately after installing a theme. I'm sure it's because of that.

SM? You mean System Menu, right? I'm not sure if I have that, and I don't know how to get it with my wii bricked and all. :( And how do I "launch" a game that needs an update? And what kind of game? As in a disk?

And I found DF's blog. I sent him a message, but there were no comments that were not just a stupid bot, so it makes me a little nervous.

If your wii is currently on 4.1 for example and you put in a disc with a 4.3 update on it then when you use savemiifrii it will automatically update to the 4.3 system menu which should fix your problem.

Just google savemiifrii to find directions and videos on how it works.

Use neek 2 test menu themes instead of trying those on your real nand. Less chance of bricking.
DF used to be active on this Forum, but it's a while ago I read something from him. You could still try to
send him a PM here.

I'll try it, but I just can't find a place to download it. Is it a download?

I still have a couple problems.

1. I don't have a GameCube controller. I'll try to get one, though.

2. I don't know how a wii game would need an update if it's on a disc, but how do I know which ones do?

I have Skyward Sword, and there's some glitch that requires a downloadable channel to fix. Would that do it?
