Just wondering, is there any difference in US and EU game? Especially in game with stories like Bravely default of the legend of Zelda.

No. Sometimes the EU version has some more languages and British English instead of American English and that's about it.

So basically, the text are different in some game between US and EU. Is it easy to find what title?

All games are available from retailers according to region. The differences are minimal. The online versions depend on the scene group..

I believe for Bravely Default, the costumes of the characters were modified to be less revealing, the characters were made older, and a lot of sexual jokes were removed during localization.

I'm not sure if they did the same thing for the US version of the game though.

US and EU versions are censored I think. The version which shouldn't be is the Japanese 'for the sequel' re-release. Which is undumped and I believe you'd need a DLC for English language anyways. :nayps3:

Normally they're the same, or just have minor spelling differences. Occasionally, one region's release will censor things that the other region's release didn't. Good example being Fire Emblem, where the EU and US versions both censored different things. The EU version censored some dialogue about a certain character's "boingy bits", while the US version censored a graphic with the same character in revealing attire. Pick your poison.

Had this been the DS or GBA I could have given a bunch of examples (typically it would be that you want the European version, and maybe a patch for that version) and been reasonably confident it was as complete as you could expect. For the 3ds I have far less info so I am mainly replying here so I can find the thread again.

In case you did not know the 3ds is region locked though if you have a 4.5 or lower 3ds you should be able to unlock it.

Differences then. First you have the obvious ones of European games sometimes having more languages. I am not aware of any Euro versions doing things like the DS did and having wifi play on certain games where the US versions lost out.

Bravely Default did get some differences compared to the Japanese version, I am not sure what happened between it appearing in Europe and the US though. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/01/03/bravely-default-censored-for-western-release for the European stuff.

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/05/28/devil-survivor-overclocked-gets-bug-fixes-in-europe/ was also interesting, though as the 3ds has something resembling a patching system it is less of an issue than it might have been in times past.

In light of the region locking I am not sure how I would answer the "no hacks but money no object-- what 3ds region do I pick?" question either. Europe is not as second rate as it usually is for games and there have been some notable exceptions, I dare say you will not be missing out on much with a North American 3ds. Possible exception if you prefer to play in Spanish or French (albeit continental versions of both), though I have not seen anything saying those translations are not so great this time around.

Hopefully someone else will have more good info.

Could you mention some of these? Beginning probably about seven years ago, Squareeeeeeenix seems to have taken a policy where localized titles (In English, at least) wouldn't necessarily be translated, as much as their text would be rewritten to pass off some weird "entertaining" text, like shoving in accents and puns to make a quick joke, or pushing characters for the sake of having one-dimensional personalities so that they become talking heads. I've noticed this behaviour in the US copy of Bravely Default already, with a lot of weird generic sexual dialogue, Agnes saying UNACCEPTABLE in almost every possible opportunity, the French and Stoic stereotypes with those desert sidebosses.

It feels a lot more like the dialogue is rewritten to be as clichéd as possible.

Assuming that was not the wrong section snipped then I have no idea what, if anything, was changed for the NA release compared to the European one for Bravely Default. The IGN link should at least provide a jumping off point for the Japan to elsewhere stuff.

If it was the wrong section snipped then there is a reason why most of the ROM hacks use the European versions, or aim to polish up the European versions in some way for GBA games. DS stuff is a bit more subtle but the slightly different translations for the second Advance Wars, Mr Driller drill spirits got a bunch of extra modes when leaving North America, Bomberman 2 only released in Japan and Europe and going back to the French stuff there was a lot of junk released and called French in North American versions.

Not only the things you mentioned, but also that US version's SpotPass and StreetPass are REGION LOCKED, but EU version's aren't.
