i remember the scheme of contributing 2000usd for 3ds chip decapping on those times it was a glimpse of hope ...\of this cpu depacking hope something good comes from it for example a full snes/gba emu etc
but alas scene nowdays is afraid to release anything and so it is the reign of cards

Thanks, it was an interesting read. The best part is these guys didn't collect thousands of dollars and then disappear.
The die isn't fully scanned either - all that's shown is the power distribution system, the several layers underneath are not visible, so in other words, this is just silicon porn. On top of that, they had a complete lab to work in, so no additional expenses were required.

What exactly happened to the decapping fund guy? Did he really just disappear?

Fortunately, they're only getting started.

Here's for hoping that they get to the good bits. Not dissing the work, by no means - all I'm saying is that it's not exactly a full-on decapping and mapping job yet and that it didn't require additional funds because all the resources were already there. ;)

Good things come to those who wait (;

I myself am very happy about this as the guy is doing it and doesn't need the $2000 to steal from innocent people.
