Just stop! A pigeon is a pigeon, no matter what weird eyes or colours you put in.

Nothing against the system or any other mechanics in the game, but they should really get some new and fresh ideas for different pokemon. And no, I dont mean an icecream or an chandelier.
Actually, only two of those bird pokemon are based on a pigeon; But I get what you are trying to say.

There are some gen I pokemon with awful designs as well though. I personally never liked jynx but there are some others like voltorb that people dont like because... Well, it's a pokeball... with eyes. You only gave 2 examples of newer pokemon and I'm sure you can show me a few more, but that's it, a few. Every gen has a few bad pokemon and we'll have to deal with it. There are plenty of new good pokemon and that's why I think they really don't need any more "new and fresh ideas" for pokemon designs.

New regions with new pokemon the mixture of old & new pokemon, new features that best suit the 3DS & mega evolution. How much easier pokemon got with finding areas the old pokemon games red, crystal frustrated me to know end those games were so fucking hard that I never played them & played the new pokemon rather than the old pokemon games.

Ahhh Pokemon you beauty! ...Wouldn't like to think how much money I've thrown at it! Just got married when Red/Blue came out (yep I'm that old!), bought Blue on release, played about an hour before stopping, rushing out to buy Red + 2nd Game Boy (Color, I think), and played/battled/traded together with the wifey - multiplayer gaming magic! In fact, 2 boys later and the fun never stopped right up to Diamond/Pearl, with 4 of us trading and battling once a week - I even kept a league going! That's the beauty of Pokemon, even wives with semi-decent gaming skills, and young kids can play it no problems, and you've just Gotta Catch Em All!

However..... the rot started with Black & White for me. Don't get me wrong, Gen V is clearly better than Gen IV, but there was no interest from pretty much all 4 of us this time round - we were just going through the motions all over again: the wifey brought out a Nidoking last on one of our very first Gen1 battles, proper wtf moment for me as I hadn't seen one or anything, and we just weren't getting any of that by Gen V. And gotta catch em all? On Black & White, what's the fukkin point? The pigeon post  further up explains this too: in Gen1 pretty much all Pokemon were unique to a certain extent. Not even bought X or Y, and don't intend to. I can't see how they can alter the game to bring me & the family back though...

Sorry lads, bit long winded, and didn't get a point across either! In fact I don't think I had a point when I started typing anyway hehe..

You probably didn't know, but in Japan, "copying" certain content is paying homage to that series.
If you read manga, and see a lot of Kamehama jokes (like recent beelzebub), you'll get what I mean.

And honestly, what game isn't a revision of the previous?

COD and Halo is all about shooting enemies again and again. (and some storyline and stunning landsca.. wait I'm supposed to make it boring).

Mario is always about saving this princess to that princess. Mario kart doesn't exactly become that much different.

Pokemon that may be retarded, like the Trubbish, or even Ice cream cones, sometimes are Japanese puns.
Or they have some theme like completing water, air and land pollution (grimer and koffing).

People didn't complain about fighting magnets, screws and an iron ball.

The truth is, we like what we like.
There's all there is to it.

If we like it, we find ways to defend it.
If we simply don't like it, we'll find all ways to flame it.

No need for the controversy any more.

You are right, there are only a few with every generation.

But I get the feeling its like when toriyama (Dragonball, Blue Dragon, Dragon Quest) is responsible for the character designs. There is a point where you see one character in another completely different character.

Pachirisu for example is for me a 1.5 pikachu.

They look good, that is not in question. : )

I did not know that, thanks for the information. =)

All I wanna say is: I dont need 10 different pigeons, 1 is enough. But I understand that every generation needs of course its "pigeons" and so one.
In my opinion they just milked the miltank too much - something like that.

And I dont want to flame pokemon, not at all. Great games for sure! ;)

"Pikachu, thunderbolt!" "PikaCHUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh, Team Rocket's blasting off again!" *Ding* << This is a wonderful reason for loving Pokemon.

No seriously, I like collecting them, leveling them up, and... yeah. I stopped with LeafGreen though; it would actually be possible to get the Pokemon to level 70 or over. Heck, I could've gotten them to 100. (Can you imagine getting 80+ Pokemon to level 100+? I hear ya.)

My favorite aspect of Pokemon is definitely filling the Pokedex, however daunting a task it may be! I'm not much of a competitive battler by any means! :P

II > IV > I > VI > V > III

You know it to be true.

Gen II has a ton of nostalgic value for me, so it's definitely my favorite, too! I couldn't get into Gen IV at all, though, personally. The actual gameplay is as splendid as ever, but my sticking points are mainly with the actual engine itself. Overworld navigation and battling feels markedly more sluggish than previous and later generations, so it makes playing feel like more of a grind. Also, with a few exceptions, I feel as if Gen IV has the weakest music of the series thus far. Still trucking through SoulSilver, though, even if the remade tunes generally pale in comparison to their originals!

Don't worry, folks, I'm not trying to "diss" Gen IV, it's just not my personal favorite. :P

Even so, I'd love to hear what everyone's favorite aspects of Gen IV are! :O

I do enjoy Pokemon games (haven't played a pokemon game for years but I used to play it when I was younger)

I think the part that I like most is that it's rewarding.
You train your pokemons in small fights, let them learn new techniques, build a powerful team.
Then when you're ready, destroy arena leaders. The stress, the tension when you battle the leader after going through half a dozen fights against minor opponents and half of your team is already dead... It's very rewarding if you win, and frustrating if you lose. I like that.

I started playing pokemon when the RSE games were out, whenever that was. I think my first one was Sapphire for the GBA. I have memories of staying up over the course of a night playing Sapphire as I needed to have no sleep for a doctor's appointment in the morning or something :)

I enjoy the games for a variety of reasons. I like the storyline - the "face evil organisation that wants to do x" is generally interesting, with my favourites being Team Aqua and Magma. Those two seemed to be Well-Intentioned Extremists, vs the rest of them and their "rule the world" views. BW tricked me for a while with their spiel though, made me sorry for my mon's for a bit :(
The music's always a high point for me, with RSE again being my favourites. I particularly like the E4 theme in those games, and have fond memories of battling against the dragon member :)
The battle system for pokemon is fun to me, with the unique animation for each 'mon in XY being a neat feature...at least when I remember to turn it on after grinding with animations off to speed up battles. The complexities of EV/IV/Nature training aren't ever something I'm likely to get into, and I'm generally not one for competative battling, although fights against friends and family are fine :)
The collecting is another fun thought for me. I like the idea of an epic quest to collect all x pokemon, and have developed over the course of many years a living pokedex that currently resides in Y, with 718 mons :)
All up, there are lots of thing that make me like pokemon, but I'm perfectly fine playing other games and indeed tend to do so when all I enjoy in Pokemon has been achieved that game (basically collect 'em all, complete storyline, explore everywhere). The battle arena's have never been much for me, I think they're aimed at the EV trainers more :)

Let's just hope they don't make a First Person Shooter out of it and ruin a perfectly good franchise, like they've done with so many others. (i.e. X-COM: Enforcer, etc)
