I think it's about time I replaced my original phat ds which I bought on launch and is falling to pieces. I've decided not to buy a 3ds flash card as I want to use my 3ds legitimately to get updates, play online etc so I'm deciding on a new original ds flash card as I read my acekard 2i with akio won't work on the latest 3ds firmware.

Would the DSTwo be my best bet? Does it work with the latest 3ds firmware update? When I buy a new 3ds game that has a new firmware version on it will I need to update my DSTwo or will it just work ok?
Or should I just not bother and get myself a ds lite?

Cheers!

The DSTwo, unlike other flash carts, uses more advanced methods of feeding header/response data to the 3DS, which is why it's the only one that hasn't needed a replacement yet.

There's still R4i. Also, what's the difference in the method?

The DSTwo can read data from the MicroSD for the while header and responses, whereas all the other DS-mode flash carts we've seen, even if they can read some of it from the MicroSD, do have the rest hardcoded.
