Next year i'm going to college next year so i'm thinking in the near future to get a new PC.
I would like to get a nice one but that's not so much expensive.

Atm i have a PC with 4GB RAM, 500W PSU , H61M-P20 G3 mobo, Intel Pentium G630 and GT630 2GB Palit.

I'm thinking to use the 500W PSU, 4GB RAM and the HDD 1TB that i'll get soon in the new PC so i only need a new CPU GPU and Mobo.

The dude from which i buy stuff is the cheapest one i found and i wanna get stuff from him, i have asked him if he can get other stuff that he doesn't have and now waiting for answer, will update you guys.

Now the rig that i was looking at is:

CPU: Intel i5-4570 - The price is 180 Euro
Mobo: MSI B85M-E33 - The price is 60 Euro, its microATX and it can fit in my PC housing so no need for a new one
GPU: MSI GTX 650- The price is 95 Euro http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N650-1GD5-OCV1.html

One more thing, what's Haswell? It says on both on the CPU and Mobo

Now have in mind that there is a posibility that i can get other parts, those here are the ones that he has right now. If you know any GPU that's in the price range of the GTX 650 then post it. Don't go for a overprice one(ala 200 Euro GPU)

I know that tom said to go for a GTX 650 Ti which is stronger than the GTX 650 and not so much more expensive, iirc 117 Euro.

And one more thing, i want to emulate Wii/GC/PS2 games which means i need to have a CPU that has good Single Core performance, heard that AMD doesn't work so good with emus.

The monitor that i have right now is 1280x1024, if i update i would get a 1366x768 one.

Important Note: [I can't import stuff cause of customs]

"Haswell is the codename for a processor microarchitecture developed by Intel as the successor to the Ivy Bridge architecture. It uses the 22 nm process." - Wikipedia

What country will you be ordering from?
Also, being the AMD fanboy I am, I'd say go for the HD 7770 or HD 7790. It's also relatively cheaper than the 650/Ti.
7790 = 650Ti > 7770

Haswell is the codename for each generation of Intel's CPU. For example right now you are using Sandy Bridge.

Are you getting another PC, or replacement of Pentium G630? If it is replacement I actually recommend sticking to Sandy/Ivy Bridge Core i5. Cheaper that way.

For another PC, I mainly worried about PSU. Which 500 W PSU are we talking about? It better not be garbage brand such as Diablotek, Raidmax, Apevia, etc.

Corsair makes very good PSUs, had a 650 W for almost a year, never had an issue :P Ivy Bridge CPUs are nice too, but for Haswell, there are no really huge advantages as far as I know, but I could be wrong.

Corsair doesn't make PSU, they contract other OEM makers to brand their products in Corsair. Most Corsair PSU are good, there are one or two bad one but those are mostly discontinued.

The garbage brands I'm talking about are completely no good PSU makers. Corsair is not one of them.

Yes, it does. If the PSU is utter shit and doesn't get enough power, fails or somehow goes awry, it can damage the components. Don't skimp on a good brand for the power supply. Look it up, any computer expert will tell you that saying "just any old brand or voltage will suffice" is just ignorant. Get the right brand and voltage for your needs. Avoid crappy brands.

A GTX 650? Seriously? Unless you're planning to do no hardcore gaming on it, you'll be needing a better GPU. If the rig is for gaming, get yourself a GTX 650 Ti Boost or an HD 7850. Both are around $150 and are better matches for your CPU. Seriously, do not get the GTX 650. It's less powerful than the Xbone and won't last you too long into this new generation.

I was fine with a GT630 till now, thanks for the input thou, will note that myself.

You know how to look into that? There's a pic of the voltage and stuff on the PSU, i just don't know if its good or not for the CPU.

That "500 W" iGMax PSU is crap, garbage, and worthless PSU.

* Look at the label, see how it says +12V with 24A? That means for +12 voltage rail it will output up to 288 wattage. Problem is modern computer pull much of the power from +12V. That means this is really just a 288 W PSU.
* Look at AC input from the top, 230V with 5A equates to 1150 wattage. For a supposed "500 W" PSU it will consume up to 1150 W from outlet, that turns out to be efficiency of 44%. Energy waster and a heater; good PSU should have efficiency above 80%.
* Finally, iGMax is a brand I never heard of. You most definitely want a reputable, proven PSU. All your components depend on PSU and gargabe one will kill them. I have doubts this PSU have acceptable ripple defined in ATX specification. Ripple is electrical noise and it is bad.

That iGMax PSU is using very old design, used for PC back in Pentium 3 era (where back then PC pull power from 3.3V and 5V the most). Do NOT use it on modern computer. Hell I even doubt it can deliver the full 288 W. For example, garbage brand such as Diablotek 600 W PSU typically caught fire when stressed beyond 300 W power draw.

As for GPU, given you game up to 1366 * 768, GTX 650 should be able to handle it just fine.

Ohh btw.... this might be awkward.... but the PSu that i had in PC... it might be swapped... by me :P

I think i swapped the PSU from my old PC and the PSU from the new PC last year cause the old ones had more W... thought more W is better... lol

Here it is

Still might be shit, you guys tell me if its any good.

I can't find any information on iGmax on PSU ranking sites.
EDIT: Although other forums call it crappy. They don't say WHY, just that it is (which means it's not exactly valid information). Take that for what it's worth.

Can u check the PSU? Ur better at it than i am :D

Diablotek PSUs catching fire... sounds rather appropriate.
The funny thing is Diablotek actually had some of their PSU UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certified. Not just fake badges, but actually certified. Device certified under UL shouldn't caught fire that easily. So either Diablotek sent cherry picked PSU to UL, or UL certification process is really that easy to pass.

Couple problems I have with this PSU,

* First according to label it splits +12V into 2 rails (12V1 and 12V2). Do you have manuals explaining which rail powers what? Cheap PSU tends to group CPU and GPU +12V together in this case and it is not ideal at all (since it means only 192 W is available for both CPU and GPU).
* Second efficiency still sucks. 920 W from outlet for a 450 W PSU equates to 48% efficiency.
* Third, I checked out the website on the label. Very generic website with no info on PSU. Again Prama-tech is a brand I never heard of. No professional reviews talked about it. Worry about whether ripples are kept with in ATX specification.

Still not a good PSU. If it separates CPU and GPU into two separate rails, then it is slightly better than that iGMax PSU. However, I'd still pick other PSU over these two.

So bad for the new PC too.
What about the one i use? Should i use the S-tech?

S-Tech is slightly better here in this case, because when you consider total +12V output being 384 W for 450 W PSU, it does look like it is tuned toward ATX 2.0+ rather than old and obsolete ATX 1.0. However, you really have to know which rail powers what. Do you have manual for that S-Tech PSU?

Really right now you should be saving some money and search for reputable PSU. If unsure you can post model numer/picture.

I thought Raidmax's were actually pretty decent?
