I am really confused on where to start with this one.

I installed Ubuntu 13.10 using Wubi with no hiccups. But I have been struggling for a lot of hours trying to find the right information to update the graphic drivers. It seem that i have to use the drivers included into the linux distro but the main driver does not output the sound through HDMI like i need to. I tried downloading drivers from AMD website but that lead to disaster blackscreen so i had to reinstall everything.

So I tried an alternate drivers(additional drivers) in the distro and that worked for HDMI audio but video was choppy it seems that they are not the right drivers. Its shown as XPS 8300 . Where should I go from now? Any help would be appreciated.
My comp config is intel quad core q8300, 3 gb ram and asus HD5450.

To be sure, you installed these drivers from AMD, correct? Not the x86 ones? Some 32 bit drivers don't work correctly when installed on a 64 bit system, which might have caused the black screen issue.

Furthering this, installing a 64-bit Linux OS is asking for things to get complicated, so try to stick with a 32-bit one.

For graphics drivers on Linux, most times you will need to boot into a terminal shell (no GUI), remove all traces of the old and/or stock drivers on the system, reboot, then run the installer for the new drivers, and then reboot.

You will need to do the last two steps every time you update your kernel.

Welcome to Linux.

and also if you read the bottom of the link : 32-Bit packages must be installed for 64-Bit Linux drivers to install or work. thats weird to say the least.

So i managed to have the correct drivers on 12.04 32bit. Its not perfect but I am in a learning process so I don't mind troubles i'll try again on different configs. I have dipped into linux many times over the years but now I am ready to make the plunge.
