True Blue was definitely a ripoff. They discovered a software exploit, repackaged it and sold it to people. It's basically the same principle as bottling free water and selling it. It's smart and lucrative from a business standpoint, but takes advantage of the customer's ignorance. Also, how useful are those dongles now? Now you know why so many devs were so pissed off when the CEX-DEX method as well as the 4.xx+ Jailbreak was released. It's wrong to demand freedom of information and then charge people for work that isn't your own.
I see all the same reactions as to when every real and fake announcement was made. Some believed, others doubted, and many flamed. I don't see the hurt in waiting to see what comes of this. Somebody knows more than they're letting on or I don't think it would have made it this far.
I 100% Agree about the dongle. What I meant is that it provided a service that people happily paid for, that is all. As for how it came to be, etc, I understand why Devs would be pissed off about the True Blue, but to be perfectly honest, those same devs had cex2dex, etc a very, very, very, very long time prior to True Blue coming out and hoarded the information. Even worse, bragged about it, lied about it and sold it, in some cases. Some of these same devs ripped people off accepting donations for "devolopment" of something they already had full control of and then laughed at the donators calling them suckers. I'm well aware of all the backroom shit in the PS3 scene.
Had those Devs not been such douchebags and just released the knowledge they had then True Blue and other dongles would have never come into existence in the first place. They created the environment for dongles to flourish and therefore lost the right to bitch about it, IMHO.
Anyways, enough off topic (would be glad to discuss via PM if you wish, either here or on hax). I really do hope that it is real, I just have serious doubts about the validity of it. Bubba does not have hands on experience with it and hasn't seen it, he is just passing along information given to him. He could be a victim as the rest of us are and being trolled. I don't think he would purposely deceive anyone, he is a decent guy, from all appearances. However, until I see a video or talk to someone who has the hack in their hands and proves that it works, I will remain hopeful but skeptical.
