I'm sitting on 3 3ds XL consoles, one Pokemon of each color and a Zelda (Christmas presents for my kids and myself)... am I SOL and only able to get flashcarts that play DS games until something new is released? I thought of just getting all the games through the eshop but it'd be nice for them to share games and paying $40 per game that cost $10 - $20 on sale seems stupid.

I don't know what firmware the Pokemon consoles ship with but from what I've read I would assume something over 4.5, so should I just snag 2 r4i Gold 3ds (RTS) and would my Supercard dsonei work for mine or will I have to upgrade that too?

On the retailer sites it says that card works on 3ds so it's worth a shot, I don't have that card so don't know if it will work 100%.

That is unfortunate. I guess r41 would be the best option for the price, If you want to spend a little more money the dstwo has more options.

Thanks for that link, great resource, gonna bookmark it.

Np yea r4i gold is the best option for that price. The dstwo is the best if you want to pay a little extra. My kind of main this is to get a ds cart that will be supported by future 3ds updates and i think the dstwo will be.

That's a good point, if they stop supporting the card you get screwed. That's why I don't know if I should get the r4i deluxe yet, I really wanna play Pokemon and Zelda ALBW.

To be honest this is what i did i got pokemon x the price is about the same as a gateway. I updated to 6.3 and im waiting for everything to stabilize a bit to make sure when i buy it it will be okay. I wouldnt buy a r4i deluxe because at this crucial time the might release a new version of the card they might not i dont know im just guessing. But im not risking it. You live in the US so your eshop has great deals on games from time to time and getting second hand games is a option too. On my pokemon i have about 150 hours so that will keep me going for a long time and then when and if ever they support higher firmwares il buy it and play all the games i didnt have the money to buy. Until then il just get a dstwo to play emulated games for GBA and SNES and maybe ds games and buy 3ds games I really like.

Thanks for the responses. I've already picked up quite a few games with the sales that have been going on, I guess the next thing is to snag 3 dstwos and hope 6.3 is hacked soon. Just to make sure, nothing special is required to load the dstwo... My kids can just swap out a game for that and it'll work like my dsonei on my dsi?

:) thats what i did as well. Nothing is required except a ds or a dsi i think where you will put your dstwo's in and update them to the latest firmware to make sure they are running on the latest 6.3 3ds after that you can just switch them out np. :)

you could be an a$shole and go buy a blue or red xl from walmart, swap the motherboard out , and return it lol

My closest walmart has a bunch of red and blues that i saw had older serial numbers on them.. would be tempting but i dont think i have the funds to even attempt that lol
