Hacking Is the vWii unhackable?

Is the vWii unhackable? Will it ever be unhackable or will there always be traces of homebrew, softmods, and cIOSes? Will it be unhackable to a degree where you can update your wii u for future updates? I'am asking because what would happen if a future update came out and had a type of error code that wouldn't let you update, or bricked your vWii, or even your wii u. How would you play new wii u games? When the wii u is hacked will there be a way to bypass an update or have a way to update safely or will there ever be such an update that checks the vWii for homebrew and hacks? I'am just worried about it. I would like to know any information about this stuff.

Generally speaking, it is completely possible to use available homebrew to remove 99% of all traces of hacking on a Wii, So I don't see how it'd be impossible for a Wii U.

Bricking your Wii U, voiding the warranty, or being banned is always a possibility. If you are worried about that, wait until your warranty is expired and if you are still worried, wait until Nintendo starts working on the next console.

Right now there is not a whole lot the Wii U homebrew can do that the Wii homebrew cannot, and a used Wii is dirt cheap.

It is extremely unlikely that homebrew on vWii will have any effect on Wii U mode. Currently it's impossible to brick Wii U mode, due to the Wii U's architecture which basically separates vWii from everything else. Nintendo is also not updating the normal Wii anymore, which means there is not much reason for vWii to be updated aside from making use of the gamepad. But supposing for some reason they did update vWii mode, it's still very unlikely that this would effect homebrew. (If Nintendo was concerned with stopping homebrew on vWii that would have done something by now.)

Now these same principles may NOT apply to Wii U mode whenever that does get publicly hacked; however, vWii homebrew is 99% safe (as long as you don't brick it yourself by installing incorrect IOS, etc.) If you're still worried, you can still wait a few days when an update comes out and check forums like here to make sure people have been updating without any bricking/homebrew being removed.

But what if hackers use a hacked vWii as a gateway to hack the wii u (I recall someone saying they may be able to use the return to wii u menu channel on the vWii) Nintendo would want to brick the vWii then. Would they?

I doubt that Nintendo would brick one of their consoles on purpose. If they did brick a hacked console, it would probably be unintentional. Nintendo would be more likely to deal with the problem by sending a crack squad of Goombas to your house to break your legs with an iron pipe, or designing their software update to remove your hacks or otherwise patch exploits. They might also possibly ban your account.

They ban your account for cheating online, there are no reports of banning due to hacking the console itself

I believe it states in the end user agreement; If your wii u system is updated or changed, any existing or future unauthorized modification of the hardware or software of your wii u system will render the system permanently unplayable; it also says any contents obtained will be removed. I have nothing to worry about right now. So I'll worry about it later. I'm only on 3.1.0U and all the recent updates are safe. So I'm fine.

Rydian had a good thread about earlier, it's a service and only that. Nintendo doesn't have the legal right to ruin or disable your system. It's all scare tactics. EULAs are not legally binding either.

Well, it is complicated. The EULA is considered a type of legal contract; however, it is one of the least binding types and one of the most difficult to enforce. It is mainly meant to protect the company in case you sue them (say for disabling your account for violating the EULA) rather than for them to be able to sue you.

The EULA might actually have provisions that are prima facie illegal in someplace (and therefore unenforceable) as well as other provisions that a court would refuse to enforce either because they are unconscionable, or for some other reason.

Nintendo states: any existing or future unauthorized technical modification of the hardware or software of your Nintendo 3DS System, or the use of an unauthorized device in connection with your system, will render the system permanently unplayable.
