Shamelessly stolen from the shoutbox (...and not so shamelessly (rather lazily) "shopped" :P): https://vine.co/v/hFpi0LDwhtv

Wasn't this happening on the Xbox 360. They never move away from desktop drives which aren't intended for portability. Move it around and the disk becomes jammed in the friggle fragglin thing.

Home consoles aren't meant for portability though - they just sit next to the TV. The problem here is that the drive is malfunctioning. :P

They want people to take the console, pack it in a bag, and lug it to someone else's house or travel. Hence, portability. My first PC teacher (place I bought my first PC from anyways) always told my dad that these desktop parts are not intended for travel so he advised my dad against packing up the whole PC and bringing it on trips in the van.

It's ill-advisible to travel with any disc drive that has a disc in it or to use them while traveling to avoid getting the disc dislodged due to vibration but transporting the drives themselves is perfectly fine - how do you think they get on store shelves? They're transported in vans, trucks, on airplanes, ferries and all sorts of other air, land and water crafts.

I have noticed that the common person will do stupid things. I have met people whom I even tell how to treat their electronics, next thing you know something is broken within a day.
