Yes. Me.

And it has completely and utterly wrecked my Wii U just about an hour ago. I updated, and earlier I posted about having (admittedly stupidly, before I knew what I was doing) replaced a patched IOS58 on the vWii, which deleted the HBC from my vWii, and made my vWii unexploitable now, causing it to hang on the scam warning screen, so I am completly screwed, there.

But now... The new firmware update detects this and refuses to install the new update meaning all my disc games, and the eShop are also completely useless, now. Basically, this new update has ruined everything, not JUST my vWii, which i already (stupidly) wrecked by accident about a week ago. This causes more problems than one would think (that is if they did ANYTHING funny to the IOS's the way I did)

So yeah, I'm a goddamn idiot. But perhaps my goddamned idiocy and massive misfortune can shed a silver lining on some research, out of this. Like, "here's what happens when an idiot does things." So if you're dumb like me, this new update can potentially ruin everything and cause losses totalling at least $350. sigh.

I replied. Look up my emmc thread, see diagrams in links, see if you can read/write back emmc and if system still boots.

Don't give up all hope. At some point in the distant future the Wii-U might be totally hacked and maybe some one will make a tool to restore the vWii IOS files from inside Wii-U mode or something.

I say this becuase me being how I am, I might have given up hope, like a week from now and just sold it on ebay as "For parts Or Not Working" or unloaded it somewhere or just dumped it. But that makes me realize maybe there is eventually some hope, like a year down the road, if someone cracks the Wii U proper, there'll be some other way. Good to know. Instead of dumping the Wii U, I should probably shelve it someday, for when someone does what you predict.

I am not saying it will happen, but my gut feeling says that it probably will.

Maybe we will know something after the talk that Failoverflow is doing.

My biggest reason for saying some one might make a tool to do that is, your completely not alone in what happened to you. Plus being able to modify IOS files via a touch screen OS would just be so cool. "Touch the pirate skull to continue!" lol

Wow, I thought everyone knew how the sensor bar worked. That was the first thing figured out back in 2006. You didn't even need a sensor bar, you could just use candles. They also make wireless sensor bars, how did people think those worked? They are just LED infrared lights.

Yeah, IIRC somebody showed a wiimote working with 2 candles.

I think the ultimate point here is that, yes, it would be incredibly difficult for a normal person to do it. But Nintendo, which you know, tottally controls the hardware and software, could do it if they wanted to. They just don't want to make the effort. Really, its not the first time they've been lazy. Virtual Console, 3D classics, Online until recently all say hi.

you had a hacked vwii and the new update aka 4.0.2 has refused to install due to the hack ? am i reading this right ?

If you read his other thread, its because he bricked his vwii by replacing the vwii ios58 with the normal wii ios58.

If they did it right, there would be a minimal delay you probably wouldn't nice. Technically, there's already a very slight delay with streaming to the gamepad anyways.

That would be very odd because according to http://wii.marcansoft.com/wiimpersonator/reports/wiiu/USA/20131119-010617.log it didn't touch vWii stuff at all

I don't think it patched bathaxx, you should look for something else. Not saying it's impossible, but I don't think it did.

Speaking of which, should it be needed - is there a way to "virginize" the vWii mode with it's hacks? Not that I intend to, but just in case?

The funny thing though, it didn't really "brick". As in, it still functioned reasonably well besides that. It still worked completely. Just.... no homebrew, anymore. And no ability to even reinstall the hackmii installer. No HBC, either.

Other than that, it would load, play Wii titles, and VC titles and WiiWare titles.... just homebrew was shot. Which i was fine with...

Until the Wii U's firmware update gave me an unpassable "Error Code: 162-0002" error. After searching around, I found that it must have checked if all the IOS's are in place, and once it found that that IOS58 was funny, it just won't complete the firmware update. I can technically use it, I just can no longer use eShop or play any future disc titles that run on this update. So.... almost useless anyway.

I mean, it was a dumb mistake to overwrite the vWii IOS58 with the normal Wii IOS58... or it would have been if I wasn't working off the assumption that they were the same. Of course, here there already ARE things that specifically told me not to do that. If I had come here or did a little more research before trying it, I'd be fine. But I didn't.

So, I feel like i'm in a position where I can't complain TOO much. After all, I have to take responsibility for me making a mistake. But on the other hand it feels like that mistake has cost me more than it should have. sigh.
