Hi,
Im new to these forums and I just signed up to solve my one and only problem.
Two days ago, I placed my 3ds down on the table (without turning off and in open position) then it automatically restarted. At first I thought this was normal but when the system powered on after the restart, the lower screen started to flicker with some green lines horizontally going through the screen. I immediately powered it off. Then when I powered it back on, everything was normal. Since then I have experienced this issue many times. If I bump my 3ds on the lower right corner (where the power LED is) the system automatically restarts. I cant send my 3ds for repairs to nintendo so thats why I some serious help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like there is a bad connection somewhere, possibly even a chip that is coming loose though it would take a lot for that to happen. It might just be that the bottom LCD ribbon cable is not connected properly or is damaged. You could try to open it, take out and reseat the ribbon cable and make sure it's properly inserted, as well as checking for anything else that seems amiss.

Before you open the console, have you tried checking the battery? Take off the back cover and see if the battery contacts are wobbly. The bottom right corner is where the battery contacts are, and if the battery is loose for some reason, bumping the console on that corner might cause it to lose contact. Open the back cover and see if the battery is in place and fits snugly. If it has wobble room, wedge some paper or cardboard in there to keep it in place.

If that doesn't help, you'll have to open the console because it might be the ribbon cable or something. But check the battery first.

Is it safe to open it? Are there any fragile cables or boards that I must go through?
I dont want to make things worse.
Opening it is a last resort but by the sound of it you will not be able to fix the problem without doing so, and even that might not be of any help.
Definitely try what Veho said before you do anything else though. His suggestion sounds like a plausible cause for your problem, especially if you were a bit rough reinserting the battery at one point.
That said opening it does not pose a big risk as long as you are careful and make sure not to break off any parts while you are opening the case and putting it back together. It's also a good idea to discharge any static electricity by touching a grounded object beforehand such as your kitchen sink. I always do this when handling any electronic components.

Follow a disassembly guide slowly and carefully. Check and see if anything looks different than the guide, particularly in that area. Still sounds like a power problem based on it resetting but wouldn't know for sure without taking a peek.
