GCN GameCube Connection Issue

So, I connected my GameCube to my Samsung HDTV; the power cable works properly and I've turned the system on. I can't, however, find the channel where it's being broadcast on. I looked at the information on my TV's channels and it says there's one analog channel and one deleted channel, bringing the grand total of channels to... one.

I've gone through all 135 channels and haven't seen anything except static. It says something about a DTV cable controlling all the channels (which I assume is digital). And I haven't seen any options on the television about switching the signal from digital to analog.

Gamecube does not output RF video. Any box offering that, is an external converter (typically analog channel 3 or 4).
I'd highly advise getting at least the red/white/yellow composite AV cable.

I've got the red/white/yellow cable; you need yellow for video...

Not RF, that's a mistake.

There should be a button on TV remote called "Input". Simply press that to cycle inputs.

yes, cycle the inputs to something like Video1 or Video2. There should be an indicator of which input you have plugged the thing into on your TV

Or, it might be because my television doesn't recognize analog inputs. It registers them but doesn't display them. I'll check on this and get back to this thread.

If your TV has composite input, it will support analog input. TV manufacturer ain't going to add something that can't be supported. Composite is analog only.

Is this the first time you play console on TV?

Do you know the TV model? If not the brand, size, and year.

Wii only outputs analog signal.

I'll check that out when I get home. It's a 32" Samsung from, I think, 2007...

Yup, that's what I have. How does this have to be set up for your 'Cube to play games? Or does it?

Are you sure you plugged the cable into the right spot and not a component input? I'm not sure if TV from 2007 would have a shared composite/component input or not. They're very common on TV's now, as they cheap out on number of inputs, but I would think 2007 would still have dedicated inputs.

Uhuh; I hooked it up the same way I hooked up my Wii. I can select the AV input, but I don't get anything. And before anyone asks, I do have the power button on and loaded it with a game and a memory card.

When I hit it, I get a list like

...

Edit: with AV, I get nothing: TV gives me static.

Yeah... I did try that. Which is why I turned here for help... I should've kept my last TV... that would've told me what was going on with it. No use crying over spilled milk though. Ahem.

The only thing I can think of is to try resetting it a few times and make sure the GameCube end of the cord that connects to the TV is pushed in well, too. .. otherwise sounds like cord or GC is broken

Oh fuck; so, I have to hold my AV cable in for the red lights in the GameCube to come one, but... it works. Anyone got any good ideas for making sure the cable stays fully plugged in while I'm playing? Oh, and while I discovered this, I also discovered my SD card, which I have been looking for for several weeks now. It magically appeared, I swear. I looked in the exact same spot 5 times for it before and it wasn't there. Thank you Max; you were right about the cord.

Anyway, glad to see the problem was found.
