Hardware Seriously considering selling 3DS XL

If you sell it now, you forfeit all remaining games in the 3ds's game library. And the better games usually come on the tail end of a system's lifespan as dev's get better with the hardware.

Likely, you'll end up having to repurchase the system to get that 'cant miss' game. This exact thing happened to me with the PSP and N64.

*Sigh* I said what I said because of the doubts and bad vibes I'm getting right now on having hope for the future of the 3DS hacking scene and all the crap that I pulled, and, well you know. I don't even know what big games are coming out that will interest me to be perfectly honest. I've been using the Wii U a lot lately and haven't touched the 3DS XL in at least a month, yeah, sad I know. Again, I'm almost learning towards selling it. If new releases or the prospect of homebrew can't entice me to keep it, what can? One one hand, I'd love to have extra cash so I can get some Wii U games or a new digital camera, etc. I wanted the hacking scene to be something I could be a part of.

Only flash card I can use for emulators is the DSTWO, but that's it. I can't even afford another console (one for legit stuff, other for homebrew).

Can I ask why? :P Even if the GW or Smea never come out with a exploit that works on newer firmware? Again, I'm tempted to sell it since I don't use it anymore, I use my Wii U more to be honest. I've given up hope to even see a homebrew SDK for a long time, if ever. That, and I can't even go online since I was originally waiting for eventual GW support on new versions.

It's just, ugh, I just don't know, I probably brought it on myself. Damn, I just don't know, man.

That's not too bad, I see a lot of used 3DS XL consoles sold at $180 in some cases; a small loss wouldn't be too bad for me. Add in the games, and should bring up to $210 or so like you said. Really close to wanting to make a WTS thread since I can't come up with a reasonable conclusion as to why I should keep it anymore.

Damn I sound like a loser. I appreciate everyone's feedback, I really do, and no matter what decision I make regarding whether or not I sell it, I'm sure that the second I do the GW will mysteriously support or at least another hacking team will get an exploit working on new firmware. How much could I get for Mario Kart 7?
Dude... Stick with it, who cares for piracy?

Again, I was wanting to use it for emulation, I don't care about 3DS ROMs (plus my internet is horrendously slow for large files):P That, and I can't even see 3D at all, isn't that the main selling point for the 3DS? :(

It's just I've been through hell "contributing" to the 3DS hacking scene and so on. I don't even use the 3DS anymore.

Combo of DSTwo and a soft-mod Wii can emu anything good. OR USE YOUR COMPUTER

And emulation of old software is still piracy.

+offtopic: Found a SNES emulator with Link to the Past on a Nook HD at a Barnes & Noble in Chico, California, there was a "BNStor" file, I made one called "Piracy".

Already have a hacked Wii/Wii U, so I got that covered, the DSTWO would be useful for all the DS games I own. Dammit, and now I just wasted everyone's time for having made such a shitty thread on why I thought the 3DS was useless. So I shouldn't sell it, irrespective of the 3DS hacking scene? What can I do to get more use out of it if I shouldn't sell it? And the fact my income isn't great at the moment. Like I said before, I can't see 3D due to being born with a defect in my vision.

Could get a 2DS?

No, I don't like how it looks or the smaller screen, I got the XL since the screen made games easier to read. I'd rather not have to spend more money. Plus I like the clam shell and being able to protect the screens when closed. Plus the ergonomic design, but I mean, I can play them in 2D and they look good enough, sometimes I don't know why I bought it in the first place though. So no, I don't want a 2DS.

I'm seriously considering giving up on the 3DS as a whole due to some of the things I've been through.

-Sell XL
-Get 2DS
That could solve the "money"
-Wait for 2DS XL
-Sell 3DS XL
-Get 2DS XL
Solves it all. ;)

Again, I'm not a big fan the 2DS' design, lack of clam shell or ergonomics. If I was going to get money, I would use it to get Wii U games and/or something else. The 2DS was mostly designed to be for younger users. I don't use the 3DS XL anymore, I don't know why, but if I don't use it, why should I keep it? Most of the games I'm looking forward too are on the Wii U :P If I sold it, there would likely be regrets as maybe the hacking scene will flourish, but as far as games, ugh, I don't know what games I'm looking forward to for the 3DS, but the Wii U I am.

*shrugs* ok? trying to help xp

Sorry, just a lot of ambivalence regarding what I should do, as I would like to have the extra cash, so I will go ahead and make the want-to-sell thread. :P Right now, there are some Wii U games I'd love to get or a new digital camera for fox videos and such :D

there are many handheld devices out there that will give you a much better homebrew experience than what the 3ds would, plus you would be in a constant battle to keep your console from updating, with other devices you don't need to worry about that problem.

imo don't look for hope that the 3ds will be fully drm free hacked (no flashcart required) that smea whatever his name is just pulling a carrot over peoples head to get attention he won't release anything just like other hackers in the past have never released anything, but if you want to keep hope then good for you i guess.

if you are truly bored of waiting around then you should just sell and cut your losses, it will only gather dust there and loose value the longer you don't sell it, by the time you want one again they will prob be cheaper anyway, just remember that any digital retail games are tied to the system so if you sell it those will go too, anyways good luck with what you choose to do.

Way ahead of ya, already making a thread for the WTS forums about it! :P I'm thinking about getting a new camera with video recording (HD) and/or some Wii U games :D

If you sell your 3ds xl and buy it in the future again youll be at a loss. One day if you sell it that is there might be a day/days/weeks when you feel i wish i had my 3ds to play ___ something new thats going to come out or something and you wont have it then. You might buy it then again. I suggest keep it and keep the game we dont know whats waiting for us in the near future for the 3ds its still a bit fuzzy to predict. Whats wrong in having a 3ds and not playing it all the time, I know it might seem like a waste but there might be a time when youll be nonstop on it. I know money is bad I for example got a 3ds xl and pokemon as a present and i bought super street fighter for 5 pounds and mario 3d land for 20 pounds. Thats all I have and i dont have any more money to buy more games but I'll get them in time somehow :).

Well, I mean, I just don't use it anymore, it's been over a month, I can't see 3D, don't have the money to buy another 3DS (I do have money to live off of though). I just have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I'm more looking forward to upcoming Wii U games to be honest ;)

It's your choice :) You know your priorities best and what you like to do so if you want to sell it then sell it :)

Already made a thread in the WTS, and please don't get the wrong idea, I was never trying to sound ungrateful for peoples' feedback
