I don't really see the issue with this. It's just a little extra incentive for people to buy/hire movies etc on the Xbone. If you care about achievements that much that you'd consider buying that media solely for the achievements there's something wrong with you, especially considering they're separate from actual game achievements.

Good point but I think the difference here is the actual earning of the achievement. Hardly anyone has 1000/1000 on Ninja Gaiden 2, but any and everyone could get WATCH MOVIE FOR 60 MINS!

I never cared much for achievements before nor did I ever go out of my way to get them. These ones sound like they do even less to enhance the gaming experience, thus I would never use them.

Title is misleading. Pay-to-win achievements could be game achievements as well. You pay for a game and achieve things by playing it and you pay for media and achieve things for watching/listening to it.

Okay Microsoft, unless you unleash an army of bears with rabies at whoever watches or listens to multimedia, it's not going to be an "Achievement". Watching a movie or listening to a song requires no skill or effort, perhaps courage when the film or song is just terrible.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. The only people that really care about gamerscore is achievement hunters. People who actually buy games based on how easy it is to achieve 1000/1000.

Isn't this just some BS incentive to watch ads? I'd be surprised if you got an achievement for buying a video as they already have your money. I see this as a way for MS to make money by making the player watch Ads. Why reward what users will do anyway (watch Netflix, rent from Amazon Prime, etc.) when they can convince you to do something you wouldn't do voluntarily (watch Ads).

I would hold the skills, planning and dedication needed to marathon films, TV shows and albums is well worthy of the term marathon.
